Am I supposed to feel sorry that Drudge is leaving radio?
Am I supposed to feel that an integral part of broadcasting is going silent? Or is it more appropriate that I throw a party?

For as long as I have been aware of Drudge, I have considered him a conservative no-talent jerk. And when I saw him wearing his Walter Winchell fedora, I laughed so hard I fell down.

Drudge saying that he is giving up his radio program to pay more attention to his website is like a disgraced congressman saying he is resigning his seat so he can spent more time with his family.

Drudge is not, never has been and never will be a journalist in the true sense of the word. All he does is lift stories from one website and cuts and pastes them into his own. On those rare occasions when he attempts to write a story the result is so poor he would graded a D-Minus. Maybe neatness would keep him from getting an F.

Years ago, in Los Angeles, he attempted many times to be hired by one of the local news operations but that never happened. But for some strange quirk, his website clicked and his notoriety spread.
But Drudge is no Edward R. Murrow or Walter Cronkite or Charles Collingwood. He's not even a John Cameron Swayze. But now, his dulclt tones will fades from the airwaves and he will become a semi-colon to history. Goodbye Matt, don't call us. We'll call you.

1. Drudge Radio Flopped
This Walter Winchell wannabe thought he had a face for radio after he bombed on TV. For years his little radio treehouse sat on the fringe of the radio abyss...Sunday nights when the only other competition were automation systems and reruns...and he still drew more flies than listeners.

The "power of Drudge" peaked years ago...as many other website and personalities have burst on the scene...many with far better content than what Drudge could provide. From being a "mover and shaker", he's a novelty...and one that's been exposed many times over for being a right wing shill. His "mantle" of being a major GOOP astroturfer is now done by the Politico.

3. I always thought Drudge was Number One on Rove's
Talking Points Blastfax List, and that was the basis of his success.

I'm absolutely certain talent had nothing to do with it, anyway.

And welcome to DU! :hi:

4. Drudge is leaving radio? Sounds fine by me.
I tried listening to him one night and it was immediately obvious that he was out of his league.

9. One more RW radio hatemonger bites the dust.

Google News says he will be replaced by another RWer named Cunningham. Now where have I heard of a RWer named Cunningham before?
