Wichita Police say childhood prostitution is a continuing problem in the city.
Lt. Tom Bridges oversees the Exploited and Missing Children's Unit in Sedgwick County. Right now, his detectives are investigating at least seven different organized, child prostitution rings in the city.
"A lot of these organization are taking place over the internet," Bridges said. "The johns get into websites. They can pick and choose what girl they want."
The internet expands the problems of victimizing children beyond the city limits. It touches nearly every part of the state.
"The internet has no boundaries," Bridges said. "We've had cases that have led us all over the state. Even the small town out in the middle of no where. The bad guy is at the computer doing things they shouldn't be doing."
