Would Democrats feel Differently if Larry Craig was Harry Reid? Caught Up in This? |
|
Edited on Wed Sep-05-07 07:05 PM by KoKo01
Here's the Scenario:
Harry Reid is caught in LAX in Mens Room where Vice Cop is stationed because of Complaints and relates that he found Harry in the Men's Room...
Vice Cop Relates this story:
Vice Cop sits in the stall....and waits (wondering if all these complaints his Police Dept. are getting warrent him sitting on a toilet...and he's wanting to get home}.....until he sees "EYEBALLS" peering through the door crack..and the eyes stay there for longer than the "Vice Cop's Manual" says are acceptable for a "passer by."
THEN....in the stall next to him...Harry signals with "foot tapping" where his shoe strays past the stall line to touch his own shoe which "Vice Cop's Manual describes as "touching behavior..signalling something of a quid pro quo, sexual nature," and then a HAND reaches "under the stall divider" and is "wiggling fingers" looking for lost piece of toilet paper (reportedly by Harry to be lying on the floor) and Harry needed to wipe himself.
Vice Squad Cop thinks ....OMG! "this is 'gesturing' and his "Cop Manual" and "experience" says...this is someone inviting something so he shows his BADGE under the stall....and the "GAME" begins.
How would we Dems FEEL if this was a Sting on one of our OWN? WHAT WOULD WE DO?
Edited for Clarity and spelling.......

we'd leave the rest up to the Senate Ethics committee--I don't think we'd be as quick to lop him off like a tumor, as th GOPers have tried to do with Craig, although his leader position would be endangered.

Democrats need to be ending the occupation of civil-war Iraq.
That's why no Democratic Congressperson has called for the resignation of Craig. Indeed, every single Democrat agrees that this Craig issue should simply run its course, over a period of years, if need be.
No need for any Democrat to judge or kibbitz...and no Democrat has. Only the Republicans have been elbowing each other to prove how much he hates Craig and ALL THE OTHER GAY PEOPLE in this country.
Satisfied?

Larry Craig built up his very successful career on "Republican family values", first and foremost of which was being anti-gay. It turned out he was living a life diametrically opposed to these Republican family values that brought him to the pinnacle of popularity, money and success. Now he's going to have to EAT those Republican family values. All caught in the predicament should be charged, but would I feel different? You BET! Repukes are the kings of hypocrisy.

22. Is Harry Reid Anti-Gay? THAT is the issue here...THE HYPOCRISY. |
|
I honestly don't know Reid's stance on Gay issues, but if he is anti-gay rights, then he would be just as guilty of hypocrisy as Craig is.
This wasn't Craig's first episode with a man in a bathroom. He's a hypocrite.

If it were his counterpart, it would greatly disappoint me; but not to the point of forcing him to resign. Apparently Craig was a loyal republican; and possibly, to quote "James Carville" with his reference to Bill Clinton's personal problem: He's a good man, he did a bad thing-to his family." For sure, it wouldn't be because he has gay tendencies; it's just degrading for him to try to make a contact in a men's restroom. He's a married man for heaven's sake; he should have thought of that. :spank:

61. Would we defend a Prominent Democrat no matter what like the Repugs |
|
are now defending Craig? Craig's lawyer was all over the media saying how he hadn't committed treason so the Ethics Commmittee should drop the investigation and Craig has another lawyer trying to get him to drop the case in Minnesota.
If this was a Democratic Senator would we expect the same behavior? Aren't the Repugs seeming like hypocrits sending out Family Values Tony Perkins and others to say that Craig got a raw deal and he shouldn't have plead guilty? So...it's all the cop's fault and Craig's fellow Repugs let him down by asking the ethics committee of the Senate to investigate?
Maybe William Jefferson (the House Member with Freezer full of cash) should have resigned...but he still hasn't been charged with anything. Craig was..and he plead guilty. Repugs seem to feel they are above the law or if they are found guilty they can get off....(think Scooter Libby) and how long it took Gonzo to resign.
Is there a double standard? one for Dems and one for Repugs?

68. How long has this board defended prominent Democrats against baseless smears? |
|
Murtha, Pelosi, Reid, Durbin, Cynthia McKinney and all of the leading Presidential candidates (Edwards, Clinton, Obama).
We defend our own when their unfairly attacked. Which is all the frigging time.

Leader of the Senate.
Whereas, Harry hasn't said 2 words about Larry.

65. I'd be embarrassed for him, esp. since he voted for DOMA. |
|
and would think that resigning his leadership position would be best for the party. I'd also find his hypocrisy deeply troubling. However, this is a totally worthless question.

67. The BIG diference is that reid hasn't & doesn't spend hours on the Senate floor raging against gay |
|
rights! I STILL say, hatever any of these people do on their own time is none of my business, but when you have someone railing against an issue, and then is found to be participating in that very thing, they should be OUT OF OFFICE!!!

|
carry on against Democrats, Womens, Gays and everyone who isn't lock step with them day after day on the floor of the House and Senate.

71. I would be mad as hell that Reid had done something that stupid. But |
|
I would still think he was creepy and I don't think I would defend him. Do you realize that you would have to easily move your foot two feet to tap the foot of someone in the stall next to you?

|
that Harry Reid doesn't belong to a political party that is obsessed with regulating people's private lives and demonizing gays.

74. When Reid is peeping in stall is he playing with his fingers a la Craig? |
|
Has Reid visited this particular restroom everyweek for many weeks? Is this restroom well known as the cruisiest restroom in California? Is Reid's hand palm up when he repeatedly puts it under stall as if he wants to grab something? Does Reid keep a 25 year old FBI report that he is not gay ready at hand? If yes to these questions, then by all means he is well deserved toast.

If it was Bernie or DK, I think we would fight our asses off.
Of course, getting busted in the bathroom wouldn't be too bad for the left.
If he got busted at a Klan rally it would be different.
I know what a straw man is, but don't know what you mean by Dennis strawman Kucinich

78. Well... it would be much bigger fish than Craig, that's for sure |
|
...and thus probably much bigger news. Considering of course, he is the majority leader in the Senate.
