HORROR ALERT! Lieberman for Attorney General? (as heard on AirAmerica Radio)

That's what Marjorie Cohn is saying on The Thom Hartmann Show. The talk started a few hours ago, from what they're saying.

Lieberman's name has appeared on several Web sites since Gonzales announced his resignation Monday morning, including the liberal blog Firedoglake.com.

President Bush's choice of Lieberman, a former state attorney general whose views on the war on terror are considered hawkish, would shift the balance of power in the Senate, where the Democrats hold a one-vote advantage.

Lieberman's replacement would be chosen by Gov. M. Jodi Rell, who would likely pick a Republican to fill the vacancy. A 50-50 tie in the Senate would then be broken by Vice President Cheney, giving control of the chamber back to Republicans.

(Note: Lieberman says he's not interested, but it wouldn't surprise me if the GOP pulled this off.)

1. Oh, puke me a river
So he'd be afraid to investigate ANYBODY because it might be partisan?

Yeah, that's what we need.

Bring back Janet Reno.

Or, hell, nominate Bobby Kennedy Junior.

3. Yeah right, because Lieberman's going to give up 5 years
in the Senate for 14 months as AG in a shipwrecked admin. He's that self-sacrificing! Not.

6. You don't seem to realize, that he'd have no more
influence on the issue as AG than he has as Senators, and it's always been clear to me that Joe's primary concern is Joe. This is just silly.

5. I said that as soon as Gonzo announced he was gone
and was soundly trounced (it's posted here under the LBN thread about Gonzo). I'm sure the others make good points about what a stupid move it would be for him, but nothing would surprise me.

not likely to give all that up for a "dead-end job". Just MHO. :)

9. I get it. Then the current Repub Gov.
could appoint a new senator.
I certainly wouldn't put it past * to see the logic.

But with the way our majority has been so far, would it matter?:sarcasm:

Edit: I take that back. Should have said, I wouldn't think it illogical that someone would explain this to *.

10. Well. He would have to give up his senate seat. And he would last about
2 weeks as AG.

I see it as a win-win.

11. Thanks for posting--especially the pics.
They served to remind me of Holy Joe's re-election campaign, with the float of *, HJ and the "kiss."
With that "kiss" float in mind, what sort of float could someone design for competing against Larry Craig?

13. excellent!
Connecticut will have to hold a special election to replace him. At the worst we briefly get a real republican sitting in his seat followed by somebody such as Lamont.
