My LTE was printed today! ...."Madmen leading Us"
Edited on Thu Sep-06-07 07:49 AM by Just-plain-Kathy
Madmen leading us

So, Cheney wants a pre-emptive attack against Iran. What can we do about these madmen leading our country? Stage a coup? Our military is owned by Bush and Cheney. Through Bush's signing statements and their lack of veto power, Democrats are deemed helpless.

The History Channel has a documentary titled "Search of History: The Plot to Overthrow FDR"; it's about how corporate leaders wanted to overthrow our government back in the 1930s. Prescott Bush, Nazi financier and grandfather to George, was one of the plotters for this coup.

Imagine if America was governed by corporations. They wouldn't care about the will of its people, they would ignore our Constitution, and they'd pass only legislation that benefited corporate America.

Damn! A coup was staged and we didn't even realize it! Through questionable elections and a corporate-owned media, we lost our beloved America, and there's not much we could do about it. My letter to the editor won't change things.

I have a horrible feeling that if we go into Iran, there'll be a draft.

Bush and Cheney need to have troops in harm's way in order for us to keep throwing money to their defense and reconstruction interests.

What can we do?

2. Lovely
and thanks for mentioning the draft. I think every letter we write should have some small reference to the return of the draft. The more the neanderthals have to think of having to actually do something for our country the closer we are to ending it, because if bush and cheney have to rely on the voluntary spirit of their "patriotic" base to get er done, it aint gonna happen.

4. BRILLIANT!!
One of the most powerful things we can all do is to bombard our local newspapers with letters to the editor!!!

Thank you for doing this so eloquently and concisely.

The FDR overthrow and Prescott connection should be a popular topic in current public discourse, as it's obvious his grandson is doing his all to feed the MIC that did not even exist until after WW2!

HOW RIGHT YOUR ARE and God Bless you for writing! I hope others here, including myself, follow your excellent lead!

9. I write LTEs almost every other month...
I had about eight published. The only one not published was this one....

News Cronies

It wasn't too long ago, Tucker Carlson was delighted to report that evangelicals want Jeb Bush to run for president in ‘08.

I always wonder why our television news media seem to back our administration no matter how low their approval ratings sink? Or, why they report more about celebrities then they do about the war? I always thought it was because the media is owned by billionaires who enjoy Bush’s tax cuts for the rich. ...I did a little research, it‘s a lot more than that.

NBC is owned by General Electric. GE Plastics produces military hardware. They also manufacture and maintain engines for F-16 Fighter planes.

CBS is owned by Westinghouse, they own a subsidiary that disposes of nuclear and hazardous wastes; plus they operate four government-owned nuclear power plants in the US.

ABC is owned by Disney, they have holdings in Sid R. Bass (crude oil and gas). They also own the Carnival Cruise line, they received a $236 million federal contract to house Katrina Victims.

Then there’s FOX, as you know Rupert Murdoch owns FOX. Murdoch is on the Board of Directors of Philip Morris. During my research I found an article subtitled “Tobacco Escapes Huge Penalty, U.S. Seeks $10 Billion Instead of $130 Billion”.

I find it amazing to watch the Sunday morning news shows. Every television ad is for investment banking, investing in oil/gas or pharmaceuticals. It’s like our news is brought to us by Bush's cronies.

...I wonder why they didn't print it.

11. Not sure if it was on DU or not
but, GE Plastics was recently sold (or is in the process of being sold) to the Saudis.

Yes, those Saudis.

13. This may sound crazy but I can't tell you how many times I worry...
...about how the Saudis own so many of our banks. I worry that someday we'll wake up to empty bank accounts.

14. I remember back in the 80s
...People got upset that Japan was buying up so much of America - and, they've been a close ally for decades.

Yet, Saudi Arabia - a country that both harbors and backs some of the worst terrorists in the world - is buying up pieces of America and nobody says "boo" about it.

10. I was going to print a link to the newspaper’s website...
...but the last time I showed a letter I wrote here, some troll looked into what kind of car I drive and printed it here to intimidate me when I didn’t support their candidate.
