Dozens of Ku Klux Klan leaflets calling for a ban on "all non-white immigration" were distributed last weekend in Manassas, where a dispute over illegal immigration has raised tensions in recent weeks.

The leaflets, dropped at night into mailboxes and on driveways along one street, urged "white Christian America" to stand up for its rights. Smatterings of racist literature are distributed in communities throughout the region every few weeks, but this incident struck a raw nerve in Manassas

Some local residents suggested that the immigrant groups had drawn distant "fringe elements" to the region, especially by staging a week-long economic boycott and a protest rally this month. But Pierce said the people who handed out the Klan leaflets were all Virginia residents who "love their nation and see the problems too."

how it has survived all these years. It seems they go through periods "building up" forces (so to speak:eyes:)

Hey, I know what you mean about wanting them out of your state. I was born and raised in Louisiana in the '60's and even though my parents tried to shield us from their hatred, it still spewed it's vile hated through their kids in school. It's sad that when some think of the south, that's the first thing that comes to their mind--the KKK and racial bigotry--but not all "white folks" felt that way. I don't think there has ever been enough spoken about those who did reach out to minorities and found they TOO were often shot or looking at the end of a noose.

The kind of ignorance and stupidity that the KKK feeds off of needs to be nipped in the bud before it has time to fester. I often wonder, if there would have been an uprising of "whites" who stood up to the KKK in the '60's, would that have changed the face of history.

As a much older person now, I often sit in humble solace at what many went through at the hands of these bigots...and it's heart-breaking:cry:

the anti immigration is something for them to latch onto and could make this revival stronger.
The immigration thing would not be so strong if people were not focusing their insecurity on them. the people are upset and scared over the lack of real jobs, outsourcing and the looming of China and they are scared they will loose their house and everything. The dream is no longer in reach for many.
This is being taken out on the immigrants. And, the KKK sees this as a great recruiting tool.

Doug started trying to encourage the formation of a counter-counter rally (an idea we did in college) where you show up with signs that make no sense for the event (like "US Out of Vietnam" at an anti-choice rally) and solicited possible slogans to put on signs. He told me that three of mine were well-liked so I'm hoping that "Soylent Green Is People! PEOPLE!", "Nobody Puts Baby in a Corner," and someone holding up an actual, "End Construction" roadside will be there.

Racist group warned

The U.S. Post Office and the publisher of The Recorder issued warnings Monday to the group linked to the distribution of white-supremacists flyers found in mailboxes and in newspaper boxes citywide.

The man behind the flyers, however, denied placing the mailings in mailboxes, which is a federal offense, but said he would continue to distribute them in Recorder boxes in spite of the threat of legal action by The Recorder.

Jeff Loder, 27, said Monday that the Creator Skinheads, a local branch of the infamous World Church of the Creator, would fight to protect its free speech.

“I know I’m not stupid, I know it is a federal crime to put things in people’s mailboxes, that is a lie,” said Loder, whose group is known for aggressive leafleting and recruiting. “But I’ll continue to spread the word, and I would view any challenge to stop it as a threat to my right to free speech.”
