How long before Thompson's campaign implodes?
I predict that Thompson is going to chunk it big time – and soon. The downfall of his campaign will be either the result of a fatal gaffe captured for all the world to see on You Tube (al la Macaca), or the release of a nasty skeleton from his closet by the progressive blogosphere. There you have it. Enjoy the show.

1. Thompson's been blowing chunks all along
I give it until end of January and it's over.

2. Well
He's kinda chubby, has little hair and his face is not pleasant to look at. Fred Thompson's campaign ends as soon as the media starts actually showing him instead of talking to him

3. I don't know
It is certainly possible, but given his past I would say he will stick to his script pretty good. I wouldn't rule out a skeleton or two though.

6. Americans love actor politicians
unless they're Dems. He'll be in for a while, at least until the next debate. It wouldn't surprise me if Rove gets involved in Thompson's campaign, in which case he probably won't implode.

14. I'm afraid we're underestimating this guy.
The actor politician thing is huge. And so far, there is no superstar candidate in the GOP.

7. I suspect his wife and her insatiable desire to control everything and everyone. . .
will be the ultimate pitfall for the "Thompson Juggernaut." As I read yesterday, he's already lost most of his original team (http://www.crooksandliars.com/2007/09/05/hollywood-freds-campaign-launch-gets-bumpy/):

The original Fredheads are no longer angry or frustrated; most have been fired already or given up. The remaining originals say they will quit soon.

Should be interesting. And our political lore will be the richer for it (in a slapstick, Keystone Kops fashion, I suspect).

11. It appears that it implodes while we speak...
Jeri and Fred suffer from some grand delusion that they will be able to finesse this thing all the way to the White House.

10. He won't make it to the Leno show tonight ...
I can not see him making a "macaca" class mistake. He seems to cool for that to happen.

I think he is going to lose his "Yeah, I'll support you" crowd when they figure out he has no substance. People want his Law and Order character, and once they figure out that they are not going to get him, "NOTA" will be leading the Republican polls again.

"NOTA" = None Of The Above

Cheers
Drifter
