Al Gore readying new environmental book
By HILLEL ITALIE, AP National Writer

NEW YORK - For those frightened by the tale of global warming in Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth," and wondering what can be done, the former vice president has an answer: a sequel.

Gore is working on a new environmental book, "The Path to Survival," that will be released as a paperback original on April 22, 2008, Earth Day. According to publisher Rodale Books, Gore will continue where he left off in "An Inconvenient Truth" and offer "a visionary blueprint for the changes we should make as a world community."

"He (Gore) explains how making bold choices now to protect our environment will also create new jobs, propel sustainable economic improvements, and inspire a new generation to tackle our most challenging issues with moral leadership," according to a statement issued Wednesday by Rodale.

"Part scientific manual, part expose, part visionary call for a new planet-wide political movement, the book will appeal to those who were motivated by the call to action of `An Inconvenient Truth' and who are now ready to fight for the solutions that were considered politically impossible only a short time ago."

end of excerpt.

What the world needs now. Al Gore is the global environmental ambassador this world needs now and as his success in so many countries around the world proves, his efforts as a statesman, businessman, media entrepreneur, environmentalist, and teacher are making a great difference in the world now.

Everywhere he speaks regarding this crisis abroad companies sign on to green their practices and to look into visionary concepts to broaden the horizons of our future to reverse the damage we have done to our only home. Everywhere he speaks government and religious leaders shake his hand and announce cooperation with him and The Alliance for Climate Protection in working to bring about a political tipping point worldwide to tackle this the most important issue of our time.

Everywhere he goes to do his slideshow and speak truth to power citizens listen and give him standing ovations because he is a man of vision, knowledge, and determination in seeing his goals through for our planet. The most important thing to me in life is finding your true passion and making a success of it... what is even more wonderful is when that passion ignites a fire the brings about a global movement of moral awakening.

That is what I see Mr. Gore doing now, and for that he is one of the greatest men in history to me. Especially because there is no pretense in what he does. There is no ulterior motives attached to his devotion for this planet. And he keeps on moving in the direction of his destiny despite other temptations that would thwart his mission and push him off his desired path. And that is actually something that we all must do. We must choose the path of the moral imperative and not allow any distractions to push us off that road. Our continued ability to sustain ourselves as a species depends on it.

I am then so very excited about this new book coming out next April (and on Earth Day which makes it all the more special,) about his ad blitz through the Alliance for Climate Protection, his continuation of training sessions globally through the Climate Project (please expand it to Africa!) and all of the efforts he is now pursuing to move US to doing what must be done before that window closes.

I will count the days until April 2008 to buy this book and share it with my son as I have every other book he has written to date. And I promise to you, Mr. Gore that I will not let you down. I will share this information with others as I have been doing for years, and I will continue to be the change I wish to see in this world.

THANK YOU for consistenly never letting this planet down. From your environmental record when you were in politics, to Triana, to all you have done now over a thirty year span to warn us of the impending disaster we sow at our own peril by our indifference, you have proven once and for all that you are the environmental leader we have needed for so very long.

Now let us appreciate your work, and use it to save this planet for our children.

Love you!

4. Yes, he only reserves those for his "friends"
But I do agree with you. Mr. Gore deserves all the accolades he gets for his work, and from his interviews I know that is not what this is about to him, which makes me respect him all the more.

6.  No plans yet to make this book a movie...
But I think it would be a great idea to do so. To follow up on An Inconvenient Truth with actual interviews of people across the world who have been inspired by that book and movie to make changes in their lives that have effected others' lives and moved us closer to a sustainable future would to me inspire many more. I wonder what Davis Guggenheim is up to these days? :)
