Sen. McConnell : "We're seeing significant progress in Iraq"

http://weblogs.baltimoresun.com/news/politics/blog/2007/09/lieberman_stands_with_the_gop.html#more

Lieberman declared at a GOP-led press conference in the Capitol that any congressional effort to mandate Iraq troop withdrawals would amount to "an attempt to force a retreat" on American troops.

"It is high time," he said, "some of our colleagues remove their blinders and acknowledge reality," that the American effort in Iraq is succeeding.

Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) echoed those views. "We're seeing significant progress in Iraq," he said.

...

Flanked by members of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Gold Star Mothers, Lieberman today insisted that the U.S. effort in Iraq is at a "critical crossroads." Will the United States, he asked, choose '' safety and strength or defeat and weakness."

1. Congress should be forced to live in Iraqi neighborhoods without benefit
of protection or some sort of special status - and then get back to us on the progress being made in Iraq

So should people in the executive ....

Give'em all the chance to see life in Iraq from the Iraqis point of view...you know, to "remove their blinders and acknowledge reality"

4. Hello, Solly!
Yep, I thought I knew the meaning of the word 'progress' but obviously the word has a different meaning to the warmongers.

After 4 years of war, there is now progress? Hallelulah!

After a trillion dollars there is now progress?

After killing a million Iraqis and 4000 US soldiers there is now progress?

Tell ya, we will win this war the same as we won in Vietnam. Remember the progress we made there?

5. We'll win exactly like that
Words and concepts do all seem to have a whole new meaning over the last 6 years don't they?

We need a Bush dictionary...intentional lies and crimes are really just mistakes and policy failures anyone could make...torture isn't torture..it's enhanced interrogation techniques

9. Yep
And there are far too many people who are such suck-ups to power that they are willing to let the twists of words become their new realities.

We may rise up and hold to the truth but I am beginning to lose hope. My heart bleeds for those who have suffered in Iraq, and Nam, and a thousand other places, all under the thumb of the US military might.

Peace to you, Solly, I can only pray that more people get the kind of wisdom that you possess and profess.

3. I'd like to see him define "significant progress"
and back it up with REAL facts instead of spin.

7. It is a condemnation of our country that such blatant liars are not laughed off the podium.
The biggest problem for the USA is the huge number of stupid, gullible citizens.

Ben Franklin warned us.

10. Whats even worse is how the Greedy old Pricks have ads
on here in michigan with wounded vets telling the veiwers how it would be betraying them if america doesn't "finish" "the job". I wonder if those vets are using the money the pricks are paying them to get the medical treatment they need, after all we know how *co gutted the VA.

12. Would Lieberman and McConnell be willing to repeat
those statements standing on a Baghdad street corner with no security?

I didn't think so.
