NY Daily News: "Iraq government near collapse, secret report says."
NY Daily News: "Iraq government near collapse, secret report says." Many senior State Department officials in Iraq believe a political solution to the war is now "hopeless," according to a top diplomat.

Iraq government near collapse, secret report says
Lawmakers returning here this week got hit with more bad news about Iraq in a confidential report that says the fragile democracy is "collapsing," the Daily News has learned.

The boycott of the government by certain Shiite and Kurdish political blocs has left Iraq's leadership hanging by a thread, according to a report by the Congressional Research Service.

The report by CRS, Congress' research and analysis arm, was completed Aug. 15 for the House and Senate.

2. Well then, it's over. All the king's men aren't going to be able
to put humpty dumpty back together again. The military phase can only be successful if the political effort succeeds.

Bring the troops home.

3. So when do all the gung ho supporters
of this failed oil grab come to terms with the fact that they aren't going to be "high fiving" each other in downtown Baghdad while slurping cafe mochas from Starbucks while stealing the oil from Iraq? Bet they kinda wish they hadn't bought all those new Iraqi dinars now. Hey, they'll make nice wallpaper though.
