Alter on KO:"The Democrats have been COWED" by the false numbers on Iraq

He was talking about the fudged surge "success" numbers touted by the repubs. I have to agree Jonathan. Not many spines to be seen at all.

1. I think they know the truth. It's not hard to find out.
I still give them some slack because the Senate Dems don't have the numbers to force *'s hand.

2. what is wrong with stating the truth?
Levin, Durbin and Reid choose to avoid it to compromise. which really means give bush everything. :(

3. I totally agree with you on that.
They should be shouting the truth from the rooftops. Might even force some some vulnerable Republics to vote with them.

4. damn they don't. all they have to do is refuse to vote for any more funding
and bills can be blocked by a minority...
and bills for funding originate in the House, where there is this supposed majority. but both parties are the parties of war.

8. You are correct
It is a cadre of New Democrats, Blue Dogs, and DLCers in both chambers, and they are dictating the policy of the entire party behind a wall of protection cast by the rest of the Democrats.

I want to know which Democrats are making it impossible for us to have a strong negotiating position.

12. Are Levin, Durbin, and Reid promoting capitulation themselves
or are they hearing a certain group of Democrats threaten to split the party if we do not do what Bush says?

Their statements over the last few months indicates that another group of Democrats are the ones who are preventing us from moving forward on our goals. I would like for their names to be known or yes, Levin, Durbin, and Reid are aiding and abetting this farce at the expense of the bulk of the party's supporters.

If we are going to be massivly disappointed time and time again, the LEAST that the Democrats can do is name names. They owe that to us, or we don't owe them our votes. The status quo cannot continue.

7. damn straight!
that is the bottom line, they are not "cowed" they are part of the profiting corporatocricy. It is too bad MSM folks won't even go there, it is easier to say they are scared. :(
