I saw the darndest thing yesterday at my kids' school. |
|
I drove over to the school to pick them up (errands afterwards), and while waiting for a parking space, I saw a man raise the flag. See, our governor here in Michigan, Gov. Granholm, has ordered all flags on state property to be at half-mast in honor of Michigan's fallen soldiers. The Republicans are mad, saying that she does it for too long for each one and that it "cheapens" the token of respect to do it for everyone (I'm serious--it's been in our paper).
This guy, who didn't work at the school, went and raised the flag the rest of the way. I was shocked, so when I got to the area by the front door, I asked one of the other moms what happened. She was livid and said that the guy just walked up and raised the flag without a word to anyone. I said, "Way to honor the soldiers," and she was so mad she looked right at me and said, "Tell me about it."
I've never seen anything like that before. Does that happen often?

I'm not sure what to say other than keep an eye on the flag. I'm sure the custodian who lowered the flag for the night noticed.
We walk most days, and I bring the dog, whom they don't allow on school grounds for good reason. I might leave him at home tomorrow and see if that guy shows up again.

4. I believe the ass is violating all kinds of laws and ordinances. |
|
Trespassing, for starters.
Does the school have Security?
You should definitely inform the School and the Sheriff's Dept (if they are the State enforcement agency where you live). Neither of them will stand around and let this happen on their watch.

She's a bit ditzy, from my experience, and while they don't have security, she might have someone keep an eye on the waiting parents.
Edited for clarity.
