Well, almost. It's a store credit. But he didn't even have to do that. After all, has anyone received a letter from Exxon or Chevron apologizing for them making a gazillion dollars over the last couple of years?

http://www.apple.com/ (Letter link in lower left corner).

4. Depends on what you mean by "for."
It is good for $100 off anything bought in the Apple store. (Personally, I'd buy two $50 iTunes gift cards and call it a day)
It is given to customers who feel slighted because they paid $200 more for an iPhone than they would have if they waited a month.

6. I meant the latter.

Last week, I used the $50 refund from the class action lawsuit regarding the iPod battery.

It could only be used on Apple branded hardware and software, and NOT on iTunes downloads. $50 doesn't buy much.

I got another Firewire iPod cord and a dock, and it still cost me $8.

Edit for grammar.

7. What class action lawsuit about an iPod battery?
Going to search now. If you can provide a link, it'll be much appreciated.

12. It was a settlement for those who bought a First, Second or Third generation iPod.
The letter I have from the Apple iPod Claims Administrator is dated April 14, 2006. IIRC, I filed the claim close to a year before that. (BTW, Apple sent me the claim to file. I wasn't even aware of the lawsuit.)

5. Suckers... Never buy anything 'new' off the shelf....
Without a doubt the price will be cheaper and the bugs fixed after a 6 month 'waiting period'...

11. Most early adopters know they're paying premium price for something that
will be cheaper and or upgraded before long.

For most early adopters it's worth it.

15. Yes, paid full price...
...and now have been making money off of converting traditional websites into iPhone (and now iPod) friendly websites.

Easily paid for itself, and now I get $100 back on top!

:D

10. If you "needed" the thing so damn bad you had to buy it right away, I don't see why you expect NOT
to end up watching other people pay less.

Shit, if you bought a DVD player right when they hit the shelves, you might have paid $600 for one with just basic features. Now you can get a similar one for $40.

13. There's a lesson to be learned here
Never buy an electronic gadget in its first week on the market. It will be overpriced and may have technical problems. Anyone who can wait, even a few months, will be better off in the long run. I don't know why anybody would pay 600 bucks for an I phone. Sure its impressive, but not that impressive. You could buy a video Ipod with a 60 GB harddrive and a cell phone and have money left over for a Nintendo Ds for that price. Lets face it, the Iphone only had a 8 GB hardrive. For 600 bucks, thats pathetic.
