Fred Thompson Is Not Arthur Branch |
|
Folks should no more expect Fred Thompson to be the avuncular district attorney he plays on television than they should expect Al Pacino to be the ruthless crime family leader he played in the Godfather trilogy; unless he or she is a conservative...

1. Arthur is a political hack...an asshole... |
|
I fail to see how this is in any way a political advantage.
It's never about right or wrong, or justice, with that guy. It's about political advantage. Can't stand the character, can't stand the actor now either.

2. Yeah, they shouldn't. But they will. |

It's really hard for people to think of actors as, well, ACTORS.
James Arness will always be Matt Dillon.
Leonard Nimoy will always be Spock.
Arnold will always be the action hero... not the old former body builder who has, at best, an average intellect.
People want to see "Ellie May Clampett", which is why Donna Douglas played the part of an 17 year old well into her sixties.
Because people see the act and not the actor... we got 8 years of Ronald Reagan.
But your right, they shouldn't.

telling about people who would come up on the street and talk to him as if he were actually Hoss.

4. I hate Fred....and Arthur. |
|
Could not stand him on Law and Order. I am glad he is off that show but not too happy about an actor running for Pres. again. Yuk. Politicians are actors in a way but I really could never trust a real actor running for political office.
