Mediocre, eminently forgettable movie Broken Arrow on FOX Movie Channel this month |
|
Perhaps it's just an incredible co-inky-dink...or maybe my tinfoil hat is screwed on too tightly...but cinematic necromancers in charge of programming at the FOX Movie Channel have deemed Broken Arrow - a mediocre action film in which John Travolta is cast as a rogue pilot who plans to steal nuclear weapons and blackmail the US government - worthy of revival.
This film airs three times in September:
Fri Sep 7 12:30 am Mon Sep 17 10:00 pm Tue Sep 18 02:00 am
In light of the 'mistake' involving nuclear weapons getting ferried around the country 'accidentally' - evoking the use of the term 'broken arrow' - isn't it an incredible coincidence that a bad movie by that title would see the light of day after a lengthy exile to the cinematic dustbins? If anyone can produce evidence that the movie Broken Arrow has been aired at any time in recent history, I'll unscrew my tinfoil hat a couple of turns.

2. The decision may also simply be that it was cheap... |
|
...and they already have The Mighty Ducks In Burma scheduled for next month.

9. Red Dawn was on just last week. |
|
I think it was on AMC - which at one time stood for American Movie Classics. I think they changed the designation when they decided to air commercials during the films, and to show really bad 3 year old movies that could never be considered classics.
I wonder if Fox bought out AMC.

5. This is a joke, right? |

Fox Movie Channel is running "Broken Arrow" now because of the misplaced nukes story. Riiiight. I can see the top-secret phone call now...
"Hey, Rupert. Dick Cheney. We're going to have some misplaced nukes next month. Be sure to schedule that movie 'Broken Arrow' to coincide..."

"But you are aware that there's an invention called televisions and on this invention they show shows, right?"
I've seen Broken Arrow on several channels while surfing over the last few years. Don't think I've actually watched it, but no question its been on from time to time.

8. Any broadcasting experts out there? |

It is obvious that ads are placed by dumb software automatically into into any 'harmonious" programming that contains words, content or image triggers that can match up to the ads in any way whatsoever. Sometimes the results are unfortunate, hilarious, ghoulish, but we hardly notice anymore, even if the evening news triggers revolting resonance with banal commercials.
Movie programming over the multitude of channels seems also harmonized by computers. Birthdays, deathdays, seasonal fare, contemporary news, history all seem to resonate with the resurrection of the same old film connections, like "Mommie Dearest" on Mothers' Day sand Jack Nicholson's "the Shining" on Fathers' day. I wonder if any human personally makes the programming anymore. Interjections of commenting narrators is also canned after the initial era of reintroducing old movies with new funky commentary and clever clips went into the box as well.
So when you see anti-fascist fare after some recent incident you mistakenly take heart this is an underground programmer reaching out to the public. Or the ghoulish black humor effect makes you think they are cruel cynics. In the case of FOX you may well suspect that the software itself has been edited out so you never see "Grapes of Wrath" even during your local Grape Festival season. With that undesirable content completely edited out whatever instant connection the computer hits will be RW or with an irony that the typical FOX audience won't be harmed by.
Of course I don't know how this works. It just seems to be the answer for the apparent, very mechanical instant match that happens reflexively.
