Lord I think the Mockingbirds are drunk this morning
We have Holly Trees on the north side of the house and the berries are plentiful but still green. The mockingbirds are insane this morning acting like a barrel full of monkeys if you will. I think they've been hitting the berries a little early this year.

3. Aren't they alway? I love it when they accidentally stagger into the window. You just know all
their friends are snickering and pointing.

4. I have a bird bath
right outside my office window and they are putting on a show this morning. Eating berries, then drinking water? Lord I might have to wear a football helmet when I go outside.

14. Lol. I used to think my grandparents were boring old fogies when they talked about the birds. Then
I realized how interesting and funny they are!
Good luck and for heaven's sake
Stay Safe!

Like cats when they fall off the table.

5. I have a large polk plant
After the berries get overripe and are just beginning to smell a little like fermentation the mockingbirds attack it. Every year they wait until it reaches this stage of near wine like juice before they begin eating them. And every year they get drunk off their little feathered butts.

Then they hang out and sing their hearts out for the rest of the afternoon.

Hey, at least they're happy drunks. :P

7. I always let a pokeweed plant grow in my yard each year
for that very reason. It seems to be a favorite of the mockingbirds, cardinals and robins. I've never noticed them acting drunk, but maybe I just haven't been paying attention. Time to get out the old binoculars and watch that plant for a while.

8. We thoroughly enjoy them
But one of the buckeroos was building a nest in our drain above the garage and would dive bomb anyone who came near it. We have a great supply of all kinds of birds. Its great to go outside early in the morning, sip a cup of coffee and just listen.

11. A few years ago, before everybody started getting music downloaded
as their ringtones, there was a mockingbird near my place which imitated the electronic beep of a ringing cell phone. It was a little...disturbing.

13. Argh, argh
Good and appropriate read. My only interest in TV this morning is the CBS affiliate in New Orleans is having their 50th anniversary poo-bah celebration and its interesting to look at real old pictures of their "mockingbirds."
