The far-sighted contemplation of Bill Clinton.
Bill manages to stay ahead of the game, much like a successful NFL coach. He is several plays ahead. I saw yesterday that he is deliberating what comes next and confident of a win for Democrats in the presidential race of 2008. So what is he working on now? He knows that now is the time to end the polarization of the members of the Senate and the polarization of the members of the House. What is simple for him evades so many of the rest of us. If anything is to be done, as far as health care, foreign policy, civil rights, and all the rest that our party wants, we will have to have cooperation. While our emotions guide many of us to just want vengeance, he is looking ahead to getting something done. I admire the rational logic of the man. He is a politician in the best sense of the word.

1. Too bad that The Nation now needs *The Genuine Article* - That's not Big Dawg.

8. "the Dawg"
Wasted two years of a dem congress.

He's the best republican president we ever had, IMO.

12. They set National Health Care back by at LEAST two decades.
It's total insanity to think the Insurance and Pharma industries can map a course to equitable health care. They 'confer' while armed with torpedoes - merely using their seat at the table to better aim their weapons.

13. Yes... it makes me crazy to think we're going to have to go through it
AGAIN!

:banghead:

No need for torpedoes, though, is there? If your alleged enemy is really more like your partner in crime?

2. Sorely needed
...because whoever winds up in the White House will be far too busy herding cats and wrestling alligators to think in such a way. It's good that Bill is still around.

6. How many smartasses do we need?
God it gets so old. Why can't some people just say what they need to day without all of the smartass shit.

9. Most people get snarky from time to time.
Sorry you're fed up with it right now... I know how that feels.

The thing is, the clinton 'third way' BS is part of what is so wrong with this country. I'm sure his idea of 'cooperating' with the other side is to move us all a little further to the right. It's already happened. We have history to learn from. Sometimes people react with smartassery when they get fed up with what they perceive as a viewpoint which seems to ignore history in favor of optimism.

God I hope that made sense.

11. Shush now...
I like your snark. Heck, I just like snark! (when I'm in a good mood!)

When the snark turns to knives-out bloodbaths, hahaha... THEN there's a problem. :P

15. Thanks redqueen. I appreciate that. I am just fed up today.
I swear some of these people here don't know when you are on their side, or whether they should shit or go blind.

I understand what you are saying about Clinton and I agree to some point. While I know that Hillary is a horrible choice for democrats, I also realize that Bill did know how get things passed, and he did do a good job fiscally. NAFTA is bad, but it doesn't make him a republican. Besides, compared to fuckhead, a republican wouldn't be too bad right now.

Thanks again for the understanding calming effect.

17. Ah, we're all on the same side... other than the trolls.
It's only the details where we differ... but those details can cause bitter divides, obviously.

As far as NAFTA, I cannot help but believe that to be entirely too favorable to corporations, to the detriment of workers and the environment. That said, I view it as an entirely republican system.

I do give bill credit for raising taxes on the rich, and raising the minimum wage, creating the bubble-up effect that we need to re-implement. However his cooperation with republicans on reforming the welare system, while possibly well-intentioned, was, imo, disastrous.

My pleasure to try to mend bridges... I'm only lucky that I am in a good mood today and therefore able to do it. On a bad day I would have been snarking myself!

14. Uhm, WHAT?
"Don't ask, don't tell" ---cop out

DOMA ---civil rights my ass!

DMCA ---again civil rights my ass!

NAFTA ---Let's screw the little people.

I could go on, but these are the big problems with Bill Clinton's "logic", he's a politician all right, and that's no compliment.
