Shakeup after nuclear missiles flown across US by mistake
The Guardian

As many as six nuclear warheads, each with a destructive potential almost 10 times that of the Hiroshima bomb, were mistakenly flown across the US, Pentagon officials conceded yesterday.
The incident last week saw nuclear-armed cruise missiles mounted on the wings of a B-52 bomber and flown from an airbase 40 miles below the Canadian border to the southern state of Louisiana. The 1,500 mile journey from the Minot airbase in North Dakota to Barksdale in Louisiana lasted three and a half hours, during which time the crew were unaware of their nuclear load.

Pentagon officials said a munitions squadron commander had been relieved of his duties and crews involved with the mistaken load - including ground crew workers - have been temporarily "decertified" from handling munitions.
The director of air and space operations at US air combat command is to lead an investigation into how the plane was able to mistakenly fly nuclear weapons without anybody realising.

1. Mistake, my ass.

According to Rachel Maddow, the military base where the nukes are now is used as a staging area for shipments to the Middle East. But it was a "mistake" that nukes were in the missiles, that the missiles got onto a plane, and that the plane flew to a base that ships to the Middle East? I know that the military has been forced to lower their recruitment standards lately, but really!

It was done on purpose, and in order to warn the public that Bush does indeed has an eye on Iran, someone was brave enough to leak the story on purpose. I thank the leaker for his or her service. And I repeat: Mistake, my

5. It is amazing to me that..
the media would actually have the nerve to even suggest that such an operation could have been a "mistake"....and then if falls off the media screen completely. Sometimes when I hear such nonsense, I wonder if I have fallen into some alternative universe. Yes, Mistake, my ass!!!!

2. The logical next question is...
Where are the missiles now, and where are they going next?
Back into storage would be nice...

7. Well, now that the warheads are in Louisiana or wherever
And there's a transport leaving for Iraq, and there just happens to be a little extra room on this one, well . . . you know.

But hey, it was all a mistake, and Corpsman Schlub at Minot has been severely disciplined (no ping pong for a week), and it won't happen ever again unless we really, really need it to happen again.

3. The shake up will come in the form of clearing out all the ranks
of people who could have potentially leaked this story to the press.

Beyond that, the military and their overlord chaney will now come up with yet another way to transport nukes under the radar.

smokey bullshit and shit stained mirrors folks.

You will be able to tell it's Iran by the glow on the horizon.

8. I agree it is hard to imagine security on nukes isn't very tight.
I think this could all be a case of "limited hang-out." No one was expecting the movement of the bombs to be made public, now they are sort of stuck with admitting the bombs did move. But they can still deny the details that remain secret.
