Call for Boycott of ADVERTISERS of media. US McGoverns Deserve Coverage!
Edited on Fri Sep-07-07 12:25 PM by graphixtech
The blackout of media coverage (censhorship) of Ray McGovern's
messages (and other messengers) was brought up in a different post:

Ray mentions the lack of a real media in this country
as a reason for America's alarming situation...

It is a height of corruption example that someone with the
credentials of Ray McGovern is forced to take his message
on the road physically and make statements in front
of students, citizens and (little nobody) independent media
activists such as myself.

IMO, we need a change of tone in the media debate.
The situation is untenable and absolutely must come
to an end. Imo, part of the solution lays in calling
for an organized boycott of the all ADVERTISERS of all
media who have failed in their civic responsibilty to readers.
Losing advertising money is the only factor that media might
give a hoot about. Let the media sink for their complicity.
They neither represent nor serve us.

In reality, these type of pravda media outlets are extremists
and the debate should be framed as such. "Mr. Advertiser, why
do you advertise with an outlet that censors America's most
important issues? Since you choose to financially support this
practice, I will no longer frequent your establishment."

McGovern seems to have a mission to educate young people.
I did a bit of research and in 2006, McGovern had a tour
of colleges across America. Since Ray seems to have a strong,
urgent sense of civic responsibility, a college "tour" may have
been the only effective option available to share these CRITICAL
important mesages, because the "out of the mainstream media"
won't TOUCH his messages.

Later this same day, I was invited to videotape a press interview
with McGovern, a writer for the KC (Rick Montgomery) and a writer
for a Catholic newpaper. The KC Star published an extremely small,
bland paragraph from the entire day's events (rough estimate
that McGovern spoke in front of 500-1000 KC students and citizens).

From the UMKC press interview, here is an excellent brief clip
of McGovern discussing US Isreal/Palestinian policies and
the label 'extremist terrorists' as it relates to populations
with legitimate grievances. McGovern suggests that Isreal needs
to consider alternative solutions rather than killing everyone.

I have lost count of the times I have covered local events with
a KC Star writer or photographer in attendance with zero
mention or photo ever being published. Even the huge March 2003
protests with 3000 people did not warrent a photo. I have seen
them report that less than 100 people attended a protest when
there were more than 500 (and regularly misrepresent protest
crowd numbers).

I've long been dismayed by the KC Star's extreme lack of coverage-
(censorship) which mainstream radicalized me enough to
become a media activist).
