Well this is interesting (http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/C/CRAIG_REPUBLICANS?SITE=1010WINS&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT):

Ed Gillespie, President Bush's counselor and a former chairman of the Republican Party, acknowledged that ethical scandals have hurt the GOP. He predicted that by 2008, the party "will not have candidates who have any kind of ethical considerations that will be a concern to the voters."

Does this mean the GOP is going to prevent Ted Stevens and Pete Domenici from running for re-election? What about Jerry Lewis and John Doolittle, among others, in the House?

GOP Touts Swift Action on Craig
By LARRY MARGASAK - AP - Sep 3, 3:06 AM EDT
http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/C/CRAIG_REPUBLICANS?SITE=1010WINS&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A GOP leader Sunday denied a double standard in pushing Sen. Larry Craig to resign after a sex sting guilty plea, while remaining silent over GOP Sen. David Vitter's involvement with an escort service.

A senior Democrat said a double standard by Republican leaders is exactly what occurred.

..................

Ed Gillespie, President Bush's counselor and a former chairman of the Republican Party, acknowledged that ethical scandals have hurt the GOP. He predicted that by 2008, the party "will not have candidates who have any kind of ethical considerations that will be a concern to the voters."

Gillespie agreed with Ensign that Craig's guilty plea made his case different from that of Vitter.

"The fact is that Sen. Craig pled guilty to a crime, and therefore was convicted of a crime. Sen. Vitter has not been charged with a crime, let alone convicted of one. So there's a pretty big distinction here," Gillespie said on "Fox." .........

4. What crime was Clinton convicted of gillespie?
Pretty big distinction huh??

Voters won't be concerned because they won't know about the ethical lapses until long after the elections are held? No wonder they call themselves the party of integrity.

7. U: "...import politicians from Mexico?" ROTFLMAO
Only due to the current BIZZARO Republican Culture of Corruption, is that an option with greater ethical standing. They are notoriously corrupt, speaking in generalities. In Mexico, "la mordida" is the law!

6. "that will be a concern to the voters"
Of course, if the bushies drop enough terror on the voters before the next election, that'll sure bring the ethics concern level down a notch or two. And if there's still a voter or two who are concerned about ethical scandals, it's just their own damned fault for not being on Gillespie's wavelength. :P

Doolittle: "I Am Running Again. Period."

Did you think that little things like a federal investigation, a crowd of Republican challengers and dismal poll numbers would keep Rep. John Doolittle (R-CA) from running for reelection?

Doolittle Attacks Critics As Chief of Staff Faces Grand Jury
ERICA WERNER - Sep 07, 2007
AP News - http://talkingpointsmemo.com/news/2007/09/doolittle_attacks_critics_as_w.php

Rep. John Doolittle, R-Calif., denounced his GOP critics as "weasels" Friday even as his chief of staff appeared before a federal grand jury investigating Doolittle's ties to jailed lobbyist Jack Abramoff.

Doolittle also told reporters on a conference call Friday that he believes the Justice Department's long-running probe "borders on harassment."

Prosecutors are investigating connections between Doolittle and Abramoff including payments that Doolittle's wife, Julie, got from Abramoff even after a fundraiser she was paid to plan got canceled.

Doolittle's chief of staff, Ron Rogers, spent an hour and 20 minutes before a federal grand jury at U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia Friday. His appearance came two days after Doolittle's scheduler and deputy chief of staff appeared before the same grand jury.

I know this is horrible but it's also hilarious. "We won't run any pedophiles this cycle -- or, none that have been indicted."

14. Somebody better tell Romney
When the Alan Fabian scandal explodes, Mitt will be screwed. Fabian was Romney's national financial manager and was indicted for money laundering and fraud to the tune of $32 million. This should be juicy.
