"There are no bush supporting chickenhawks in fox holes"
Edited on Fri Sep-07-07 01:44 PM by BOSSHOG
I gotta little testy yesterday with one of the chosen few uptown yesterday who was talking about the importance of faith for our soldiers in Iraq. He said there are no atheists in foxholes. I said he couldn't prove that but the subject line is my response and I told him that was undeniable. And added that our commander in chiefs lack of leadership, integrity and moral compass gave nothing for troops to have faith in.

1. Pat Tillman was an athiest
And he hated Bush, opposed the Iraq War and was a Noam Chomsky fan.

3. I don't buy that nonsense that adversity
leads one to Jesus. Oh its a nice talking point, like you'll go blind if ya wack off. And those who "believe" that stuff have no idea how wonderful they have it in the land of the free.

5. Believe it or not
it doesn't happen that often. I'm actually a fun loving great kinda guy that a lot of old farts like to have a beer with, but we hardly talk politics and when we do its usually local stuff. But when some yahoo starts wacking away at "there actually is not a separation of church and state because so and so said so" - that constitutes "testing" me.

6. Ahhh Yes...
They listen to Limpball's show...

I go to a local establshment/eatery/bar where one "old fart" is a real koolaid drinker - in his 70's, from Texas and he LOVES Bush... Hates them A-Rabs, He thinks that if you don't hit yer kids, yer makin' a big mistake - He also thinks that you should probably hit them with a Bible.

7. We have an interesting mix at my watering hole
I'm 53 and just about the youngest, mostly vets, all full of shit, chock full of lies about our sexual prowess, all of us have a repertoire of jokes, its Cheer on the bayou and surprisingly we are just about evenly split between bush worshiping psychopaths and goddamned constitution loving hippy liberals, so politics is hardly ever brought up because no one can be ganged up on. Its like a silent alarm goes off if bush's name is brought up. That subject is toxic becausee the discussions usually end immediately. We do get along about 99.9% of the time.

But... I am not a male... That leaves you to guess what gender I am...

I will be 51 in January.

I will actually scream if someone brings up BUSH while I am sipping my most excellent margarita at this favorite place of mine...

And yes, they, the Grand Old Phucks, are psychopaths... really they are.

Edit: Damned flying frogs made me type funny

9. I was pretty damned
good on the podium in the Navy but have failed since I've retired. I've also failed in getting anyone to accept my offer of a ride to an Army Recruiting Station. I think I'll just open a nice cold Budweiser.

12. And a great one to you My Dear
I got the lawn mowed but no doubt my wife will find a hidden honey do list when she gets home tonight. I'm getting to the age when thoughts of turning the old portfolio into a commercial bank CD is sounding more attractive. JANUS has treated us extremely well over the past 20 years though.

13. Gee Whiz Wally!
You two have investment portfolios!

We used ours to put the down payment on this house in '99 --- Good thing we did too - right after we cashed it in the stocks went south and property prices here sky rocketed ---

Pass me a cold drink.

14. We were very lucky
we cashed in some mutual funds and put 60% down on our new home in January 2000. Since we have kept a small amount in Mutual Funds. We made so much off them in the 90's that if I don't do anything stupid we will never lose their value.

Where is here?

Thanks to Katrina our values have gone up quite a bit in the past two years. We are just far enough north of the gulf to be attractive to people who live south of us.

16. Yeah, hubby and I live pretty frugally..
I guess we're pretty lucky. Kept the modest little 1964 split level and didn't trade up to the mcmansion, it's tripled in value and almost paid off, that helped.

Here ya go, Gilligan...
