Crying and scared here. Bush says bin Laden tape a "reminder it's a dangerous world"
Edited on Fri Sep-07-07 08:45 PM by Bluebear
In the words of Macauley Culkin in Home Alone, "I'm really scared!"

SYDNEY, Australia - President Bush said Saturday that Osama bin Laden's first video appearance in three years is a reminder of "the dangerous world in which we live."

"It's important that we show resolve and determination to protect ourselves, to deny al-Qaida safe haven and support young democracies, which will be a major defeat to their ambitions," Bush said about the video released just days before the sixth anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.

In a 30-minute speech addressed to Americans, bin Laden boasts about the impact of the 2001 attacks, mocks the democratic system of government in the United States and lambastes the Bush administration for initiating the war in Iraq.

"I found it interesting that on the tape, Iraq was mentioned, which is reminder that Iraq is a part of this war against extremists," Bush said. "If al-Qaida bothers to mention Iraq it's because they want to achieve their objectives in Iraq, which is to drive us out and to develop a safe haven. And the reason they want a safe haven is to launch attacks against America or any other ally."

1. For a Septegenarian on a Dialysis machine......
bin Laden looks remarkably youthful on that not-at-all-phony videotape. And they must have some Grecian Formula in his cave, because his beard looks resplendent.
:sarcasm:

3. you mean the fake beard, where did they get that?

It's the sound of my knees knocking from all the fear. Whatever will I do? How will I live my life knowing that Bush has threatened me with the terror of an old man dragging a dialysis machine through the desert? As if I need to add this :sarcasm: :hi:

4. Amazing how Bin Laden said everything Bush needed him to...
Wants to convert Americans to Islam... check

Liberals support terrorists... check (Noam Chomsky comment)

Gonna fight us over there... check.

I love how Bush talks about "them" making a safe haven in Iraq. I guess the safe haven they have in Pakistan isn't good enough :eyes:

You know I might have bought the tape as being real if Bin Laden hadn't started talking about Chomsky..

7. I paint and draw portraits a lot. I notice little differences in faces.
Edited on Fri Sep-07-07 08:53 PM by Miss Chybil
I paused the side-by-side photos from the bin Laden tapes shown on KO tonight and I have to say, there are a lot of similarities in the faces, but there are also some disimilarities - (not counting the beard.) Of course, it could be from the slightly different angle of the head in the two photographs and the different lighting, but I think the eyelids are strikingly different in each photograph. Did anyone else notice this? They could be swollen, but I think the eyebrows were different, too. What do you think?

11. Yep, I did RIGHT AWAY yesterday. I posted that the person who
was posing as bin ladin was a pitiful excuse for a stand in. Isn't funny that bin ladin deosn't seem to be able to capture images of himself since just post 911? This bunch doesn't know or is unable to find someone who looks like him, realistically like him, that is. They seem to be treating this like bigots treat Asian and Black folks like me who they seem to believe look so much alike that they aren't able tell one from another. I mean, everyone knows that you put a little beard here, a turban there and really hazy filming and VOILA! Whoop, there he is!!

8. Bush himself is a reminder that it is a dangerous world.
He has far more innocent lives chalked up than Bin Laden does.

10. If I hear about 'safe havens' one more time....
That is the most ridiculous propaganda point bushie can spout.

They already have a safe haven in Saudi Arabia. Remember, george...most of the 9/11 'kids' were from Saudi Arabia.
