3. Few people realize that Iran is a modern country. |
|
Some people only have visions of camels, sand and 'ragheads'.

4. "You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view . . . |
|
. . . until you climb into his skin and walk around in it."
From "To Kill A Mockingbird."
Americans need a serious dose of empathy.

I had a TA from Iran when I was in college and I ended up working with him later. He was an Armenian Christian. Iran is very modern country whose people generally love the USA.

10. you know this is a good approach...these visuals... |
|
to help our truth-deprived populace actually visualize this place --this place full of people that our government apparently wants to use WMD against (it worked SO well in Iraq...)

11. I remember how Michael Moore was criticized for doing that. |
|
He included those shots of Baghdad, before the invasion, in F9/11 and the corporate media went nuts.

I forgot that MM did that.
Yeah, this war was not ever gonna be a reality show.... Don't want any before and after comparisons & no media pix of Iraqi people and their intact homeland --which might cause inappropriate pangs of empathy or guilt after we wreck it.
Amazing how easy it was to sell it as just another made for TV quickie war like Daddy's...painless, a little inconvenience. A little surgical correction. We don't need to pay attention.
And they ALMOST got away with it....if only we could have :sarcasm: "won" the war.

something new happens to dash my hopes. Sorry for the total negativity of my post. Yes, it would be great if the country got to know what the rest of the world is really like. And the Dixie-Chicks are making a fine comeback...

this whole country has a cloud over it. People everywhere seem very depressed, just plodding along, waiting for a breakthrough, looking for a reason to have hope. This disastrous administration has taken a heavy toll on all of us.
We will find our way out, but there are hard lessons to be learned ...

13. Thanks. I had the good fortune to visit Iran. |
|
Surprise. The people there are just as decent and deserving of a life free from war as people anywhere. The real evil is being done by the warmongers and their corporate masters who find profit in human suffering.
