Just saying  From the Saudi and Israeli borders all the way to India, it's coming and I fear nothing will stop it.

2. Nah, I don't think so. As much as this administration has inflamed the ME,
and the Russian interests in the Caucasus, China's emergence as a bigger power on the Pacific Rim, North Korea's nuclearization, WWIII is a stretch, imo.

There remains an interdependence among the players, lost in the rhetoric, yet real.

I look forward to an American president that promotes a rational foreign policy. Looks as if we'll have one inaugurated in 2009.

:kick:

3. If they do it right now they can probably pull it off with India's help

If they wait, the China-Russia-Shiite alliance will become too strong. Saudi Arabia and Israel will demand it. India could win the right to dominate China and destroy Pakistan.

5. Putin is a very slick operator.
Sometimes I wonder if he might want to return Bush's favor of stirring up trouble on the borders.

Canada seems peaceful, but the situation in Mexico seems unsettled.

6. Yes, Canada is peaceful for now...
...and we'll stay that way until everybody tries to use our Northwest Passage without permission. Those are internal Canadian Arctic waters, and we don't want to blow trespassing ships to Kingdom Come, but we will if we have to. If folks just start drilling for oil or mining in our territory willy-nilly and we can't supervise and control these activities, well, that's an environmental disaster waiting to happen.

7. Thanks for your views.
I have been wondering how Canada would resond to this. Does Canada have a military with arctic and naval operational capabilities?

So far, you and we have been able to either work out our differences or at least remain talking although frustrated and a little angry. I doubt that the Danes or Norwegians will be a problem. However, I think that the Russians may come at you pretty aggressively.
