Released D.C. protesters say police used intimidation tactics
09/07/2007 @ 5:08 pm
Filed by Jason Rhyne

Two of the protesters arrested on Thursday during an outdoor press conference at Washington D.C.'s Lafayette Square say that the show of force from police at the scene--which included a S.W.A.T. team and mounted officers, according to reports--was excessive and designed to send a message.

Tina Richards, of the group Grassroots America, and Ian Thompson, a lawyer and organizer for the anti-war group ANSWER Los Angeles, spoke to RAW STORY shortly after they were released from jail and formally charged with misdemeanors in D.C. Superior Court. A third individual, Adam Kokesh, a leader of Iraq Veterans Against the War, has also been released, Richards and Thompson said.

"They were completely there to intimidate," said Tina Richards in a telephone interview with RAW STORY. "We were there to say, 'no,' you won't."

"We were in complete compliance with D.C. law," said Richards of the group's activities yesterday, which included pasting an advertisement for an anti-war march taking place in Washington next week on an electrical box. She was charged today with defacing public property. Richards also says she was injured in the scuffle that preceded the arrests. "I'm on my way to the hospital right now," she said by telephone. "One of the S.W.A.T. team (members) harassed my daughter...and they slammed my head up against the side of a door."

Ian Thompson, who was charged with interfering with a police officer, says the tough treatment from police extended to the group's night in jail.

"We were shackled with leg irons from about six in the morning until two this afternoon," he said. "They completely overreacted--I was picking up a bucket of paste," referring to the adhesive the group was using to put up a sign.

3. There is nothing like this new ...
American version of Fascist Freedom (tm).

You get to pretend you have one thing while you are sold on another, and have a tendency to live life as normal and do nothing about it but complain.

Now, if you were starting a business, wouldn't YOUR investors love that concept and fall off their pedestals of wealth to sock money into your scam?

We hold these truths to be self evident: The rich will get richer while the middle class and poor will be prone to being satisfied and complacent as the meat is stripped from their bones, slowly and gradually with lots of entertainment and distraction to keep the noise down!

with one million people in the streets. The fascist bullies need to be taught a lesson.

8. can the arrested identify their own paste?
charged with using the "wrong kind of paste" suggests the pig seizes the material at the arrest site. defendants show up in court and ta-da! out comes a bright shiny container of... illegal glue. verdict: guilty and UnitedStatesian Just Us has once again been served up like a severed head on a platter.

recommended.

10. I smell major civil unrest brewing under the line
I growls and it flexes its muscles, but it still lies dormant at this time. Each day when some new revelation at how far these bastards will go to maintain order, the rise of civil unrest comes closer.

This month features an unprecented amount of propaganda, cracking down, and thumbing of the nose from our political leaders and from the police. The poeple are getting more and more pissed off each day, and the left is becoming radicalized in thought if not in action. The right-wing that has split off from Bush are getting their own taste of fascism, too....Libertarians are seething.

Politically, we are nearing a breaking point.

All it is going to take is a well-publicized clash between the forces of fascism and the millions and millions of disenfrachised and we will be back to street riots like the 60's. Our leaders are not mature enough to handle it near as well now as they did then, and that is twice as scary.

13. I know, I am hearing it
in conversations around the proverbial water -cooler. The funny thing is that they have become more radicalized than I am about what to do about this, and five years ago they thought I was crazy for being against Bush.

This kind of talk simmering in the minds of many is not a good sign.....and the recent economic pressures have stoked th flame bright. People are getting desperate.

That way when they say "Ow" and reflexively pull away, they can be charged with resisting arrest.

The ole head bump on the way into the car is another classic off of the same album of greatest hits.

Not to mention the newest hit: break the leg of the person being arrested while tackling them and then charge them with resisting arrest for writhing in agony underneath them.

Boy the cops are being so professional lately, aren't they?

21. Just like being in German Police Custody in 1941
Edited on Sat Sep-08-07 01:39 PM by tom_paine
And no I am not exaggerating.

I am currently reading Haffner's "Defying Hitler" and Klemperer's "I Will Bear Witness" and indeed it is the whole and unvarnished truth.

Pick up the books and see for yourself.

In 1941...1941!...the Jew Klemperer was sent to the local prison for leaving a window mistakenly lit during nighttime blackout. His incarceration, which I just finished reading, is literally not much different and perhaps NICER (yes, you heard me NICER) than the stay these New Jews had in Bushie Police or "regular" (as opposed to a cencentration camp) prison.

Further, I feel compelled to add THE GERMAN AND NAZI GUARDS WERE ACTUALLY NICER TO KLEMPERER THAN THESE BUSHIES.

He was not tortured into stress positions by the unnecessary use of leg irons, nor was he tortured or abused in any way by his own account, as many of these people clearly were. Read the book and see for yourself how alike German 1933-37 is to Amerika 2001-07.
