Is bin Laden's video a fake or just not real.
Edited on Sat Sep-08-07 12:56 PM by Botany
In bin Laden's latest video he spoke that he
was disappointed in the democrats in congress because
they had not gotten the U.S. out of Iraq because that
was one of his goals.

Why didn't they just produce a bin Laden video where he
says that John Edwards is getting his $2,400. for help in the
primary?

This meme was being pushed by Fox News this AM ...
I was channel surfing and caught that gem.

So does bin Laden watch C-SPAN or read Congressional
Quarterly?

link to the pdf file of the transcript ...

"People of America: The world is following your news in regards to
the invasion of Iraq, the people have come to know that after several years
of the tragedies that the vast majority of you want it stopped thus you
elected the Democratic Party for this purpose, but the Democrats haven't made
a move worth mentioning on the contrary they seem to agree to continue to
the spending of tens of billions to continue the war and killing there, which has
led to the vast majority of you being afflicted with with disappointment."

1. I think that this is an act of desperation never seen before in American
politics.

2. I look at these things
and wonder the same thing Botany-I mean they look like a character from one of my son's video games-and the guy is in a cave on the border and he actually can make an honest assessment and criticize the democrats from there? Come ON man-how friggin stupid are we anyway?

3. This last video convinced me that Bin Laden is a wholly owned...
enterprise of the Bush administration.

This was just over the line. It is just fucking ridiculous.

4. That comment really jumps out at you, doesn't it?
Why would Bin Laden specifically say "the democrats in congress" instead of simply saying the US government or the US Congress? I find it hard to believe that a foreign terrorist leader would make the distinction between the entire government and a political party within that government. I also find it hard to believe that he would blame a political party and not the LEADER of the country.

"the democrats in congress" - that's the phrase the GOP and their media shills use to describe the Dems. They never simply say "the democrats" ... they always say the complete phrase, "the democrats in congress" as if they want to constantly remind people who is controlling congress.

16. That was what really got me. When I heard that remark, I thought,

"Oh, boy, has the Administration got a friend in OBL," (or what is supposed to be OBL)

5. The Arab world thinks its a fake
Authenticity doubted

Adel Darwish, political editor of Middle East magazine, told Al Jazeera that he had "doubts" about the authenticity of the tape.

"Any kid these days with an electronic kit can alter images and edit the way that he or she likes," he said on Friday.

"There is no close-up of bin Laden, the beard is thick and black and then there are large segments where the image is a still."

and this

Websites shut down

The US said that any video message would be closely scrutinised and that efforts to capture the al-Qaeda continued.

Soon after Washington announced it had the video, all the websites that usually carry statements from al-Qaeda went down and were unaccessible, in an unprecedented shutdown, according to the Associated Press news agency.

The reason for the shutdown was not immediately known.

Maybe the sites were shut down so they couldn't protest that OBL didn't make this video.

8. Personally I'd go for them shutting themselves down
in effort to find the leak. Apart from that I think the main issue here, as usual, is whether to believe the translation into english whatever.

9. I think its interesting that the editor from Middle East thinks
that the image is static in several of the frames. Sounds like a botched project to me.

12. I don't actually believe he's still alive
The USA effectively made him the figurehead for a religious cause. At the current rate that mistake may turn out to be the most infamous case of "shooting yourself in the foot" in history.

They needed a replacement fall guy for communisism to keep the population spooked and it befell Osama bin Laden.

"Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger."
-- Herman Goering at the Nuremberg trials

I'm sure the videos will still be coming out with monotonous regularity every few years or so when I'm long dead. They might just as well have called him Emmanuel Golddstein.

14. The hand looks the same though
Edited on Sat Sep-08-07 02:01 PM by Mojorabbit
he has an unusual elongated hand to my eyes which I have noticed from the beginning. This really makes me think he is in cahoots with our guys. I just can't see him following our politics that closely.

on edit, his hand looks almost photoshopped on to the wrist.

15. Right there with you.
OBL is most likely long dead. Whether he is solely responsible for masterminding 9/11 - I find that doubtful too.

7. One of these days...
everyone is going to wake up and realize that bin laden and 9/11 really are the products of a government run amuck! This video only makes me realize it more and it sickens me that so many are still willing to believe this lie.
