Anybody Else Have That 'Calm Before The Storm' Feeling ???
Not here in GD, but out there in the wider world?

I mean, Congress is back in town plotting away after getting their constituent's views back home, Bush is gonna announce his new AG nominee, General Betrayus is gonna deliver the future on Iraq on Sept. 11th of all days, there will be a HUGE anti-war march on D.C. four days later, the states are beating the shit out of their own political parties trying to one up each other before the primaries, the stock market is finally realizing the threat of the mortgage crisis to the economy which portends a coming recesssion...

And I'm looking out the window at this perfectly peaceful, mildly warm day, near the end of summer, thinkin...

It's quiet out there... TOO quiet.

Maybe I should go down to the bar and watch some college football, cause I'm thinkin all hell is gonna break loose over the next couple of months. Might be my last peaceful weekend.

You???

P.S. Is there anything else I'm forgetting???

with all the things that are going on this month there is a certainty that something stupid or terrible or terribly-stupid will happen.

2.  It does feel that way
All you left out were the troops being deployed to DC this month and the B-52 bomber missile MISTAKE .

All of this happening all at once and I forget which was planned first because that would be an indictaion of some sort of planning .

Oh and the Bin video .

It does seem like somethings going to blow .

5. Thanks For The Additions...
Troops deployed to D.C.

Nuclear test run over our own country.

And things have gotten so bad, that the Bin Vid, and even the arrests in Germany, barely rate a yawn.

Shit

7. Not really. The only storm that's coming
will sink the pubs even more. You do have a great point on the markets thou, plus the US$ has fallen against the Euro big time on Friday last. The market can hurt most all of us.

13. Yup...
From a post on another thread:

We've already had a disaster scenario training exercise (Operation Noble Resolve) to prepare for the really big training nuclear disaster exercise (Vigilant Shield/TopOFF) coming up in about a month; we've got Chertoff's gut rumbling about a terraist attack, along with several highly placed GOPers and their media mouthpieces openly wishing for another 9/11 to save what's left of the party; we've got sabers rattling over Iran; we're out of troops, so an attack on Iran has to be from the air; we've been told their nukulur facilities are underground or attack-hardened and therefore we may need to use tactical nukes to take them out; now we've got five hijacked nukes ticketed (maybe) for the Gulf and an extra one for home use; we've got NSPD 51 and HSPD 20; we've got the asset seizure executive order; we've got the Military Commissions Act, which killed due process and voided the 1878 Posse Comitatus Act so federal troops can legally engage in law enforcement (i.e., kill us) on US soil; we've got at least two incidents of phony exercises suddenly going "live" -- 9/11/01 and the 7/7/05 London train bombings (and probably the 2004 Madrid train bombings as well); and we've got sociopaths running the executive branch.

Yup... waaaay too quiet.

If you do a google search for Air Combat Command stand down, September 14, you'll find many more articles/comments about it.

16. There's nothing we can do...just enjoy the day and days...what's out there
will happen and we have no control over it. Just keep water and a good few weeks of provisions.

It's all we can do.

21. Good suggestion
I've been buying extra canned goods, including cat food for my furbaby, etc. lately. If I'm wrong (oh, how I wish), I can always use the food during the winter when expenses are higher.

22. Well, an attack on Iran would be sudden. An economic recession
would be more gradual. Both seem to be in the air. But what I suspect is that something will hit us out of a clear blue that has not been on our radar.

25. I've been having this feeling too.
It's not about Iran, but I feel the coming storm is going to be total and complete economic collapse. It could happen very soon, like as early as 9/18/07. That is the day the Fed meets and decides what to do with interest rates. If the Fed drops them by .25 pt., things will most likely be OK, but if they decide NOT to move the rate, LOOK OUT. It may be another October 19, 1987 scenario if that happens.
