Where is bin Laden?
Here is why it doesn't matter if the bin Laden tape is real or not: the threat is terrorism and the issue is 9/11.

There are people who are terrified by the thought that he is still on the loose and planning the next attack. Others are angry that he hasn't been caught. Some claim that he's dead and some that he's imaginary, but no matter which one of these scenarios is accurate, terrorism is still a threat.

The only thing that matters when it comes to bin Laden is the effort to find him, putting an end to the uncertainty by capturing the person actually responsible for 9/11. This is where Bush has failed.

1. Bush is a dismal failure.
I believe that had the Supreme Court not selected Bush, and Gore had taken the office he was elected to, that 9/11 would either not have taken place, or would have been disrupted and would have been a minor blip on the screen. I am also convinced that if John Kerry had won, Usama bin Laden would be dead today.

2. I agree with you on both counts....
regarding Gore and Kerry. I also agree Bush is a dismal failure and a pox on this country and the world.

3. I too agree on both points
9/11 MIGHT have happened; although I tend to think that ANY more attention paid to the threat in those eight months from Jan 20 to Sept 11 probably would have at least had some of the hijackers being watched. Maybe it still would have been a partial success - some might have slipped through.

The other thing you have to wonder about is whether, had there been a better focus on terrorist threats, warnings of planes to be used as weapons, would there have been some better communication - not chicken little scare tactics, but just reasoned information - to the public? Might the passengers on the other three planes have reacted more quickly had they realized that the old "when hijacked just keep quiet" approach was obsolete?
