the government or your employer install an RFID chip somewhere 'in' your BOD? Would YOU just submit to their 'request' or would YOU fight it like HELL?

first off, it's a complete invasion of privacy.
second, they are finding that there is a increased risk of developing tumors in and around where the chips are implanted.

You're kidding, right? If not, perhaps our Nation deserves it's doom. If we're not willing to fight for our rights, we denigrate the sacrifices of our forebears.

I've gotten several emails today linking to stories that microchips in dogs can cause of a tumor growth at the site of the chip.
here's a copy of the most recent email I received.
I just read the AP report - Chip Implants Linked to Animal Tumors by Todd Lewan a minute ago and then read about it on this list. There are some other web sites listed at the end of the article that might give you additional information.
www.verichipcorp.com www.fda.gov/cdrh/ www.antichips.com
I've never gotten my dog chipped because he was too old when the chips were first offered and I didn't feel I had to worry about him running away. NOW I'm really glad I never had it done!

18. I haven't heard any talk of the U.S. government suggesting this, |
|
but I've heard of employers doing it.
If my employer suggested this, I would do a serious cost/benefit analysis of the program and then I would assassinate the employer.

21. No thanks. But here's my theory on how it will become "normal" in under 20 years |
|
People already use them for their pets, which are surrogate children.
It wouldn't take much in the way of Public Service Announcements on regular TV and scary stories on Fox and MSNBC for a critical mass of parents to start to ask for RFIDs for their toddlers and grade-school age children, purely as a safety measure. You know, in case they got kidnapped or something.
People with medical conditions might want to have that info encoded into the chip. Caregivers of Alzheimer's patients would find it useful in case an oldster wandered off.
Then there are military personnel, who CANNOT say no. It's just so important for Uncle Sam to know where they are if they become POWs, and then too their medical information could be encoded in case of battlefield injury.
After awhile it just becomes normal and acceptable. Once one is installed in a child it's pretty much there for life. Once it's installed in a soldier, ditto.
Personally I can think of many good reasons not to go down this path, so no need to fight with me about it. I just happen to think this is where we are headed.

32. It feels so strange to say this, but I read science fiction as a child & now it seems like prophecy |
|
Many authors have always used the medium of F&SF to pose questions about culture and human behavior. "If such and such happens, then what? If this, then this. If we take a certain path, what are the logical next steps?"
That background is what makes me look at runaway technology with a very skeptical eye. And we're not going to be able to escape to a different planet to get away from the consequences of our our actions and choices. This is the only planet we have to work with.
I look at the RFID issue, and I see it coming to a family member near me. If not my son who works in the tech sector, then my toddler grandson.
I don't like it at all.

22. It may not be placed in you, but... |
|
You will still be carring an RFID Chip with you...it will be in your drivers license. By, mandating that the general population must be have RFID chips placed under their skin, it is no longer a Democracy but a Slavocracy.
I can agree that Child Molesters, felones and the perhaps even the mentally challenged(not becasue they have done anything wrong, just for their general safety) should have RFID chips implanted.
