Melanie sure made that song last a long time. Funny how the audience clapped on 1 and 3 (and some on every beat), while the singers clapped on 2 and 4. :D

4. that's a cool observation, Swamp, Little Richard used to say that when... |
|
he started playing mixed audiences, the whites were 1&3 people, while the blacks were syncopated :hi:

9. I know that this is a "typical male" thing... |

...but it also reminded me how, as an early teenager around that time, I thought that Melanie Safka-Schekeryk was one of the most beautiful women I'd ever seen. I don't think I'd change my opinion much today.
Although she's probably more well known now for tongue-in-cheek numbers like Brand New Key and Psychotherapy, she also wrote one of the most lovely and underappreciated ballads of that era...Leftover Wine.

I was eleven the first time I heard this and had forgotten until now. Sigh...
I need to sleep now, but had to say thank you before I can drift off.
How fortunate we are John. :grouphug:

I'll echo the comments of one of the YouTube posters: I haven't heard that song in years (probably around 35 in my case) and I found myself torn between blinking back tears and punching the air in time with the handclaps.

10. Are those nylon strings on the guitar? |
|
Just wondering, they look whiter and sound lighter than regular steel guitar strings. :)

15. Yes, it is nylon string guitar |
|
slotted headstock - tuning pegs point rearward, wide fretboard, strings tied at bridge; and the sound of course.
Listened to a few other Melanie songs while I was there - excellent, thanks!
