TONGANOXIE | Mayor Mike Vestal has offered to resign after admitting that he sent an e-mail containing a racist joke and the picture of a partly naked woman.

“This is something I don’t usually do,” Vestal told the Lawrence Journal-World on Friday, referring to sending the e-mail. “I should have just deleted it. ... I apologize. I hope people will forgive me. … It will never happen again.

“If the citizens want me to resign, I will resign. It was a bad error in judgment.”

The e-mail opened with the words, “Next Monday is National Female Breast Appreciation Day.” It then showed a picture of a woman with her breasts exposed. Underneath the picture were the words, “Beats the (expletive) out of Martin Luther King Day! Doesn’t It?”

He mentioned Sheila Jackson Lee in the email. When it was on the news, it was so bad they didn't want to repeat what was said even with the ****. I'm thinking it must have been pretty bad.

The breasts of the female, human, have had much more impact on the history of homo sapiens than MLK could have ever dreamed.
