Most Americans believe Petraeus report will be overly positive: poll

9 September 2007 | 15:21 | FOCUS News Agency

Washington. Most Americans believe that the report that the top US commander in Iraq, General David Petraeus, will deliver to Congress on the 'surge' of troops in Iraq will be overly positive, according to a Washington Post-ABC News poll out Sunday.

Petraeus and US ambassador to Baghdad Ryan Crocker will testify to Congress on Monday on the success of the "surge" policy, which President George W. Bush announced in January.

Fifty-three percent of those polled said they believed that Petraeus would try to present things better than they are, while 39 percent thought he would honestly portray the situation in Iraq. (AFP)

2. Not to worry, part of the 40%
are folks who still believe that there are some honorable folks serving the public good.

But - when the lies go over the top (and the claims to be made *will* go over the top of believability) the part of the 40% who is trying to "be fair" before hearing what the general says - will be pushed to join the rest of us on the 53% side.

I say this with confidence, because the admin is orchestrating the report. And the admin always goes over the top operating from the pre2005 belief that the vast majority of the population of the US can be emotionally manipulated with over-the-top lies.

Or so I predict.

3. The bushco propaganda machine is in overdrive with the........
coming bush authored version of the General David Petraeus Iraq report, PRO-'war' television commercials and a very controlled 'war' message from the MSM. There will NEVER be any straight stuff from this administration or any of its operatives.

5. scary, isn't it?
When the MSM is a willing participant, and refuses to ask the tough questions on the spin control, they are as much at fault.

8. Not at all surprising. Anything coming from this administration is
questionable, at best. The country is starting to finally get it.
