Judge to 9-11 families "move on"
http://www.nypost.com/seven/09092007/news/regionalnews/families_fume_at_callous_judge.htm">FAMILIES FUME AT 'CALLOUS' JUDGE

Some of the 41 families who refused 9/11 compensation to press lawsuits against airlines are furious at remarks by the presiding judge, who hopes they will give up their day in court - if the price is right.

Manhattan federal Judge Alvin Hellerstein says the die-hard 9/11 families should settle for cash and move on.

"Money is the universal lubricant," Hellerstein said, admitting his comments were "crass."

"Each of us has a choice: Either to never forget that pain and have it ever present in our lives, or to fashion a life beyond the pain," the judge said at a recent hearing.

"Somehow, we need to get past Sept. 11, 2001, as a country and individually."

His comments angered the holdouts who want to hold the airlines accountable for the ease with which 19 terrorist killers boarded four planes.

"It bothers me a great deal that someone in charge of this trial has become so cynical," fumed Mike Low, the dad of a flight attendant aboard American Airlines Flight 11, the first to crash into the World Trade Center

"He can't understand our loss. He sees the solution in a very cold and pragmatic way - in dollars and cents. He thinks everybody should take the money and go away."

Low's daughter, Sara, 29, spent her last moments calming terrified passengers and helping crewmates call in reports of the hijacking.

"Sara was murdered on 9/11. Her voice is silent, so I must speak for my daughter," Low said.

Have we forgotten about these families?

1. Every year over 20,000 Americans die on our highways
Many of them were killed by negligent drivers.

Yet we don't have a huge expensive memorial for each of them lining our highways.

Each family involved gets whatever compensation is arranged and comes their way.

I am getting sooooo tired of the need to give special treatment, attention, and money to 9/11 survivors when others who have loved ones who die in another way don't get a mention in any newspaper.

I am sorry your loved ones died in the Twin Towers. I, too, watched as the buildings collapsed and killed many people. I know you want remains, and many of your relatives were cremated in the process of the buildings burning and coming down. For many there are NO remains. If I had a loved one who died this way, I would find some comfort in knowing that their ashes were spread over Manhattan, a place I would guess most loved. What else can be done?????

2. I hear you
It was the initial handling of the families. A statistican with a powerpoint presentation who explains how one family who family member's future is worth $1 million while another was worth $10,000. This is while these poor souls were still in shock.

Politicians have gotten a lot of mileage from 9-11, look whos running for president. Everybody seem to have gotten theirs but families trying to bring closure.

3. Americans on the highways...
don't expect the air force to protect them from crashes.

4. Many people die on highways and of cancer true , however
9/11 was a bit different , these people were not risking anything at that moment other than working their damn jobs .

The point of 9/11 has been used to promote wars and attacks and the needless deaths of ten of thousands of people who were just living their lifes .

You can't compare highway statistics to 9/11 , it's not the numbers it is each life gone in an instant because of lies .

If you campare highway accidents then perhaps there should be an all out attack on mindless drivers with bombers .
