Simultaneously ridiculous and horrifying--the pink Hello Kitty 9 mm handgun
Edited on Sun Sep-09-07 09:59 PM by Lobster Martini
If I was planning to carry a gun for self-protection, it surely wouldn't be a pink "Hello Kitty" 9 mm unless my objective was to make my assailant laugh himself to death.

This reminds me of when they dropped packages of food and bomblets on Afghanistan that were the same size and colors.

19. Why is pink assumed to be to be a feminine color?
Anything other than a gunmetal is a waste of resources.

This topic is less likely to be moved/locked if it transitions away from purely firearms to the more important gender equality/gender stereotype points of conversation.

59. Amen.
I'm a female and find pink to be the most putrid color imaginable. I don't even put my newborn baby girl in it if I can help it (yes, some of her clothes are pink, but they're not solid pink - they're usually a mix of colors. I try to stay with peach or green).

25. I'm not against guns but this is plain stupid
and for you collectors who think it's harmless this will do more to hurt your cause than any anti-gun lobby. This is ammunition for anti-gun people to use as evidence that the gun culture does not take gun safety seriously. Is this why the gun lobby wants to eliminate judgments against gun manufacturers? So they can make a mockery of the responsibilities of gun ownership? The man who thinks painting a gun pink is going to attract women to guns should have thought to ask a woman. The only people this is going to attract is little kids. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.

29. Can't Find A Thing Wrong With It. If A Woman Wanted A Gun Like That What's The Problem?
Who cares what design someone wants on their gun? Are they like supposed to all have skulls with crossbones on them or something?

Either it shoots or it doesn't. Who cares what color it is or what logo it has?

And if anything made me laugh it was your whole 'look like a toy' spiel. You telling me that it would be ok to leave the gun around where it is easily accessible to a child, so long as it is gunmetal that the child recognizes it is a gun rather than a toy? Sorry, but THAT's the dumbest thing I've seen.

It's a gun. A GUN. It shouldn't be anywhere NEAR a child in which they could play with it to begin with. That ain't got a goddamn thing to do with what color it friggin is.

31. Children aside for a moment, why would anyone market something like this to grown women?
We're not children. We don't think like children. All the women I know don't care to be treated like children.

Yet marketers constantly try to infantilize us and sell us this silly bullshit we don't need. Women have been groomed into pathetic childlike consumer zombies by these people.

Why is that?

33. Oh God LOL. You Seem To Think You Speak For All Women. Newsflash: You Don't.
There are obviously women who DO want this gun, or it wouldn't be marketed to begin with. Hell, if you bothered to pay attention even SLIGHTLY to this thread you'd see there's a woman even in our small reach that already said she'd want this gun. So please understand that just because YOU feel certain ways, that doesn't equate to ALL women feeling those ways. Some women probably would enjoy owning that gun very much. I can only imagine how you'd judge them merely for not walking lockstep with you in your perceptions of what a woman is supposed to be. :eyes:

51. For the same reason they stopped making guns look real
I'm sorry, I'm not against gun ownership. But make guns look like guns. They stopped making kids toys look real so cops would know that a kid (or anybody else) had a toy, not a real gun. Making guns look like toys is just not a good idea, what happens when a police officer thinks the guns somebody is pointing at them is a toy, and the officer gets shot? What happens if an older teen uses gets their hands on that gun?

To me, it isn't a matter of owning a gun or not, it is a matter of taking a serious gun and making it look like a toy.

39. You think gun owners should be shot???

We live out in the boonies. Friends on the police force have told us we need guns because police response time to get out here is too slow to protect us if we had an armed intruder.

Neither of us would want to shoot someone but if our lives were in danger, we would.

Handguns are also used for target shooting, which is all we've ever used them for, and I hope all we ever use them for.

Flabbergasted by the sheer depravity of it all, O'Reilly nevertheless forged ahead. "I never thought of this," said the host of the "no-spin zone." "It makes sense that, if you had lawless gay people, they would do this kind of thing. You associate homosexuality more with a social movement, not a criminal movement. But you're saying this is all over the country, detective?"

"It's all over the country," Wheeler replied. "I mean, you go from New York to California to wherever you want to name, you can see these organizations." Next came the pink guns. "Now, the other thing, too, that our viewers are going to find very, very interesting, is the fact that they actually carry—some of these groups carry pink pistols," Wheeler said. "They call themselves the pink-pistol-packing group. And these are lesbians that actually carry pistols. That's 9-millimeter Glocks. They use these. They commit crimes, and they cause a lot of hurt to a lot of people."
