Re: Osama Bin Laden tape. Is it real?
No one in our MSM seems to be questioning the authenticity on the tape. Didn't Al Jazeera say it was false? Does anyone know what's going on with this important issue? My first reaction was that it wasn't OBL. The hair was dyed black and the face didn't seem to match. Then the remark about Dems. If the tape is a fake, and I think it is, it would have huge import. bush is using the tape as proof that we need to keep our troops in Iraq. Aren't there ways to prove that it is fake?

1. are you actually looking athe MSM?
I've seen where they reported that the administration thinks it's real; but I've seen plenty questioning the authenticity as well.

5. AJ doesn't say it's a fake.
It quotes people on either side of the issue.

Pro: "Authenticity A US intelligence official told AFP news agency that the tape was probably produced as recently as early August because of a reference to the 62nd anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima on August 6."

Con: 'Adel Darwish, political editor of Middle East magazine, told Al Jazeera that he had "doubts" about the authenticity of the tape.'

The reporter from the start presents it as though from UBL: 'The tape, released on Friday, ends with bin Laden telling US citizens that they should "embrace Islam" if they want the war in Iraq to end.'

And the AJ senior political analyst cited after the Darwish quote presupposes that UBL released--presumably he was in it: "Marwan Bishara, Al Jazeera's senior political analyst, said bin Laden had released the video to tell the Americans that he was still alive and still leading."

AJ doesn't say it was a fake. In fact, tacitly asserts that it's not a fake. However, AJ, in that article, gives time to a person saying it's not a fake, as well as to a person who says it is a fake.
