Please, General Petraeus, do the honorable thing.

It all comes down to you. At this moment in time, you represent everything the United States of America is and has been throughout our history. The honor which you have sworn to uphold in your oath as a general in the US Army is the most valued attribute you have. Your honor is this country's honor.

Please do not compromise that honor by propping up a dying regime…both here and in Iraq.

Your acquiescence spells the doom for a once-great country.

would have RESIGNED his Commission in protest. After the numerous *purges* of General and Field Grade Officers at the Pentagon and the Field, all we are left with are "yes men - spring butts" who are loyal ONLY to their Masters within the Military Industrial Complex.
