STILL 33% believes Saddam had a hand in 9/11.
This is how effective a little lying and insinuation can be. Even after the White House has publicly admitted and specifically stated that there was no connection between Hussein and 9/11, the deceit lingers on.

In a CBS poll, conducted earlier this month, A THIRD of all respondents answered yes to the question: "Do you think Saddam Hussein was personally involved in the September 11th, 2001, terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon?"

When broken down in political demagogic, a staggering 27% of the Democrats is guilty of this ignorance.

The number of yay-sayers is approximately the same as the number who still approves of the way things are handled in Iraq, who still believe the US did the right thing going in, who believe that the surge is working, that the loss of American lives are worth it and that things are going "somewhat well" over there.

And what scares me the most... these people get to vote too.

11. Did you read the OP?
27 percent of Democrats, say Saddam Hussein was personally involved in the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

It's not just Fox viewers and Limbaugh listeners.

24. Why is it any less reliable than the other parts of the survey?
Apart from, "I can't believe that," of course. That's less a reason and more an article of faith.

Or is the best we can say that the percentage of the population that believes Saddam was involved in 9/11 is x, where 0 < x < 100? I've little problem with that, especially since the research published today that is stunningly taken to mean that progressives and liberals can handle ambiguity and new information with ease, while conservatives are apparently genetically prohibited from tolerating change and ambiguity. 0 < x < 100 is really about as ambiguous as you can get.

3. Bush, in a recent Iraq speech, mentioned AQ nearly 100 times! The lies continue
as they try to morph Iraq into an AQ issue. Historic revisionism now happens in real time with ridiculous lying in the face of reality. The power of media is the ability to do just that, to wag the dog with any false tale.

7. Wouldn't it be better if CBS ditched this BS poll..
and simply REPORTED that there is ZERO CONNECTION BETWEEN SADDAM AND 9/11?

Faux style news is destroying this country.

It's question number 88.

"Listen real close sheeple, this is very important.. There is no connection between Saddam Hussein/Iraq and the events that occurred on 9/11, nor has there ever been a connection. I repeat, there is no connection between Saddam Hussein/Iraq and the events that occurred on 9/11. Back to you Bob."

26. Better to state it as a positive.
And there's the rub. We can all agree--with Cheney, no less, and the 9/11 Commission folk--that "there was no operational link between Saddam and 9/11".

But we don't all agree on the positive form of the assertion.

23. Polls are USELESS
Opinion polls are a stupid, lazy, and pointless exercise in journalistic BS. They have no value. Even election polls. What matters is how many votes each person gets, not what X percentage of the population says beforehand regarding who they'll vote for.

As for this stupid poll, who cares what people think? It is wrong! Let's say that 25% of the population believe the moon landing was faked? Does it mean it didn't happen?

Most Americans are ignorant of basic history and current events. Taking a poll of a bunch of idiots is a useless exercise. OJ was guilty, no matter how many people say otherwise.

10. Look on the bright side--more Democrats think Darwin was wrong
If only 27% of Democrats think Saddam Hussein was involved in 9/11, that's not so bad. Bad, to be sure, but not so bad. According to a Gallop poll, 40% of Democrats don't believe in evolution. That's really embarrassing. Of course, 68% of Republicans don't believe in evolution, according to the same poll.

It is so much easier to believe something when your mind isn't cluttered with evidence.

16. That's certainly better than half
so we're making progress in getting the word out, pretty miraculous since the mass media are not doing their job at all.

Some people will always believe it, of course, but the rock bottom 15% or so are so damned stupid they can't find the polls.
