Battle lines are being drawn |
|
I just heard Ike Skelton say that "protesters will not be tolerated and will be prosecuted"...
Hey Ike? FUCK YOU! You, and every other congressperson in office. You shitbags are going to learn the hard way what We, The PEOPLE are going to "tolerate". Who the *fuck* do you think you are?? Do you forget *who* you work for?? We will protest you any fucking time we feel like it because we put your asses where you are today. YOU answer to US, not the other way around. If you don't like it, get the fuck out of OUR HOUSE..... NOW!, while you have the chance to do it under your own power and consent.
The time has come to remind these bastards WHO they work for.

I agree they shouldn't interrupt, but citizens should be free to speak up and speak out during a break.

a citizen, taxpayer and voter, I'd prefer the proceedings to unfold uninterrupted and without distraction.

4. Oh that's mature - where ARE the grown ups anyway |
|
If you want a voice in that House - get elected. If you want to speak, get a seat at a hearing table.
And if you want to disrupt a hearing - at least craft a simple message that PEOPLE CAN HEAR.

7. I don't *have* to "get elected" to have a voice in that House. All of us have a RIGHT |
|
to have a voice in the government, as mandated by our Constitution.
I agree that the protesters should be more organized, and try to get their message out in a clear, concise manner. Aren't they allowed to speak or ask questions during breaks?

And yes, if you want a voice IN that House - you need to get elected to have it. You don't have any more right to disrupt that meeting than a bunch of right wingers would have to disrupt an abortion hearing with pictures of fetuses. It's wrong.

|
Other than that, I'll have to respectfully disagree with your view of having to be elected to have any voice in that House, or any part of our government. Democracy is NOT a spectator sport. We elect these people, they work for us, and we have every right in the world to oppose them and speak out against them..

12. They "caused" the break |
|
There wouldn't have been any break if they weren't being escorted out. Are you really going to try to pretend that isn't what happened?
Or that people should just be allowed to interrupt all hearings and floor debates, and just to hell with the elected representatives?
No wonder we have such a hell of a time winning new voters to our side.

14. was that the one where they were dragging the older lady out by the arms? |
|
I thought that was right when Betrayus ended testimony and they were going to switch to the Ambassador. I was cooking and half-assed listening on the tv. I really didn't focus on it until I heard the screaming, but I thought Betrayus was done.
And yes, I think we should be able to speak out any time we want. If one of our elected officials is bald faced LYING, they should be called out on it immediately. Just because the Rules of Congress (or whatever) say that they have to treat each other with respect on the floor doesn't mean that WE have to. Call a liar a liar and get it out in the open.
On the same token, if someone giving testimony to our elected officials is lying their ass off, they need to be called out too.
Political Correctness only goes so far, ya know.. I'm a firm believer that we need to start playing some 'smashmouth politics'.

|
but I just went and looked and see that he is on again. What I saw was when they broke earlier to go from Betrayus to the Ambassador.
I *did* just see them drag another one out though, and she did disrupt the proceedings while Betrayus was speaking.

|
They're asking you to stand up and put pressure on the centrist Republicans who ARE moving towards setting a deadline for withdrawal. But you're listening to the people who scream for a deadline one week, then scream for something else as soon as Democrats start fighting for what they asked for in the first place. If Democrats started pushing for defunding, this bunch would just find some other rant to be disruptive about.

Why use the playbook of a losing team?
What gains were made by that circus? The war dragged on for six more years, only ending because folks were sick of turning on the TV news every night to see kids being brought home in body bags.
The Left didn't win any political representation in the short or long term.
The last 39 years have largely sucked from the standpoint of having good government. Is the goal to extend this another 39 years?

Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
Sounds like a violation of the Constitution to me....
