Olbermann: "Fox News is worse than Al Qaeda — worse for our society"

http://insidecable.blogsome.com/2007/09/10/uh-oh-3/

September 10, 2007
Uh oh…

Al Qaeda really hurt us, but not as much as Rupert Murdoch has hurt us, particularly in the case of Fox News. Fox News is worse than Al Qaeda — worse for our society. It’s as dangerous as the Ku Klux Klan ever was.

- Keith Olbermann in the October 2007 issue of Playboy…

Freepers going bananas

1. Gotta love it when someone in the media tells the truth.
It's so shocking to hear an independent voice.

2. KO is correct once again
to prove his point just look to those who get their "news" from faux, fake patriots, religious zealots and buffoons who care not to think for themselves.

4. Right again, Keith.
They're a propaganda outlet and unabashedly so. But they shouldn't be able to label themselves a "news" organization.

5. I think that's fair.
There was a time when I would've thought such a comparison was over the top.

But, y'know, that was before I came across crap like this, from Bill O'Reilly:

from http://www.billoreilly.com/currentarticle

There is nothing on the right that compares with the tactics used by MoveOn and the reach it has purchased. These people have co-opted fanatical left mainstream media people at the New York Times and NBC News, among others, and can get their propaganda spread quickly. The far-right has little, if any, access to the mainstream media.

Besides the business about "access" being a flat-out lie--who in their right mind believes that the New York Times and NBC are "fanatical left mainstream media?"

Bravo, Keith.

6. Fox Noise is the voice of Al Qaeda.

Ever wonder why the Fox Pundits, ever xenophobic, pumped the Dubai Ports deal.

15. I'm not so sure that's the best analogy.
I think of Faux News and al Qaeda as just two implements in the tool shed of Right Wing, fascist authoritarianism exemplified by our Corpo state and countries like Saudi Arabia.

Saudi royals are to al Qaeda, as Scaife, Hunt et al are to Faux News.

17. Considering that Rupert would have been ousted from News Corps
without the vote of the Saudis, I think that the tie is closer than you think.

18. Agreed. It's not a distinct relation. The structures are somewhat mirrored ...
... and the leadership is connected.

7. This morning, I was listening to Beck, I believe,..isn't he on Fox radio?
Anyway, it was a Glen and I assumed it was Beck. I could not believe the fear he was trying to put into people's minds. Talking about school yards being the next target of the terrorists...in a few days or weeks...everything already set in place...don't go near the schools if they are hit, even if you have children in that school. I could not believe what I was hearing. I arrived at the bank and couldn't sit waiting for them to identify themselves, but I heard enough to know it was uncalled for.

I'm not sure who the other guy was, but Brad sticks in my mind. If the Repugs are listening to crap like they had on, no wonder they have such warped thinking.

8. That site has more Freepers commenting than Freepland itself.
UNVARNISHED? Try whitewashed. Not one single pro-Olbermann comment that I could see, and it wouldn't take my comment at all, so I post it here:

"For a site that declares itself "unvarnished," you certainly have a lot of comment posters just to the "Right" of Mussolini.
What is this, the "Lobby" of "freerepublic.com"? Or is FOX paying staffers overtime to "blog" again?
Rupert Murdock has destroyed something we fought a revolution and a civil war to protect: a free press. The Cable "News" outlets (and I INCLUDE MSNBC in this), pimping for ratings and vying for who gets to broadcast the next blonde lost in the VI for advertising bucks will, in history, be damned for their role as accomplices in the conversion of "Free Press" to "News-O-Matic Magazines."
The victory of the Television Tabloid is a bitter pill for those of us old enough to remember Murrow, and who grew up with Howard K. Smith, Cronkite, and Huntley/Brinkley."

13. What kind of eventual lawsuit
can divest this propaganda for hire FRAUD of the FCC licenses for everything and sue for damages and even set a realistic standard for the alien and sedition act? It exists by virtue of the protection of the mob it helped usurp the nation. It is protected by successful treason and false pretenses to be a "news organization."
