Petraeus' recommendation: withdraw the surge!

Returning to the “pre-surge” strength by pulling out 30,000 troops could probably be done without jeopardizing the hard-won progress made in Iraq, General Petraeus told House members at an emotionally charged hearing that was in some ways reminiscent of the Vietnam era. He said no decision on further withdrawals should be made until next March.

Wait six months! Ludicrous!

drawing down troops to pre-escalation levels and making no decision about withdrawal until then is beyond ludicrous!

4. Of course "6 months". That's a standard "Friedman Unit" after all

"the next 6 months" are always the critical ones. And in November, it will still be "the next 6 months". And again in January... ad infinitum. They'll just keep stacking one Friedman Unit on top of the next until at least November '07 when the next President is chosen, and then leave the cleanup for him/her.
