What does it help to give a two-bit thug like bin Laden the huge media play they give him? |
|
Edited on Mon Sep-10-07 03:55 PM by NNN0LHI
Who the feck cares what this criminal has to say. I don't give two shits what he says. All I want to hear is that he has been taken into custody and is going to be put on trial. Until then making a big deal out of some video this criminal makes plays right into his hands.
Why does our media and government keep doing that?

3. They use the Bin Laden stuff to scare people. |
|
It's all a bunch of phoney bullshit and the news media who are in league with the corporatists use it to scare the gullible. They give "him" the coverage because it serves their purpose. The people eat it up and they all laugh and continue to loot and kill. I thought it was obvious.

Notice the media does not point out the fact that 9-11 happened under Bush's watch. Bush and Bin Laden family go way back. He is still on the loose and will never be brought to justice. Bush and Bin Laden???? BFF. (Best Friends Forever) LOL!!!!

6. A large block of America reacts fearfully to these events |
|
Edited on Mon Sep-10-07 04:02 PM by Lone_Star_Dem
They tune in to their TV's to see what the media has to say about the event and watch the scary video.
The government depends on the fact that people who are afraid will be less inclined to question their blowing up other countries since the people resemble the bogeyman.
It's a win/win for both of them.

7. We always like our enemies to be 10 feet tall |
|
Edited on Mon Sep-10-07 04:11 PM by kenny blankenship
that allows us to do anything to defend ourselves--finance a two or three trillion dollar defense "buildup" of new weapons that would otherwise be unwarranted, or invade a country or two.
And if our enemies won't stand up, or can't begin to stand up, ten feet tall the "defense" industry's media subsidiaries will happily magnify these enemies to order, at no extra charge to any foreign country or individual.
They're not being extravagant in giving away the free PR to Osama and footing the bill for "image campaigns" for our various "enemies": there's a lot of money to be made in war.

10. If I was alive during WW II and Hitler was sending regular messages... |
|
...to the American people, I'd want to know what he had to say. It's not a matter of liking or agreeing with what's said, it's a matter of genuinely being interested in all aspects of a conflict.
This is in no way directed at you but I've noticed my fellow countrymen and women often need just to swallow "Our enemy is the Hitler of our time!" and that's it, no more questions asked. It becomes like an Emmanuel Goldstein character. With Saddam, especially, this was used to steamroll the American public into agreeing with the war as opposed to, say, some further level of negotiation.
So I'm grateful that Osama's messages (although I doubt the authenticity of this latest one, among others) are available to the American people. From my angle, it's about access to information. The more information about a situation which is available, the more someone critically thinking may be able to evaluate the situation with the highest accuracy possible.

13. Hitler was the leader of a country |
|
bin Laden is the leader of a couple of hundred goofballs who play on monkey bars and call it a terrorist training camp.
One was a military problem. Hitler.
The other is a criminal problem. bin Laden
There is the difference as I see it.
