4. Well, I know that Olivia De Havilland |

is the last remaining principal cast member of Gone With The Wind living...I'm not sure why she came to mind. Of course, Elizabeth Taylor (who was sort of on the cusp of the Golden Age, I guess)...

5. While the news reported her age at 93, it seems she was really 90. At some |
|
point she claimed to be older because she was a minor.

She was a Republican and he was a Democrat and what little she said through the years indicated that it wasn't partisan politics but merely politics that drove a wedge between them. He was very political. She wasn't. He officially became a Republican after Kennedy was elected president and was virulently anti-Kennedy and anti-Democrat at that point. But he was sort of a closet Republican even while married to Jane Wyman and the main indication of that was his involvement with the House Committee on Un-American Activities. He named names. Something few Democrats did even in fear. Only Republicans. He really was more of a conservative than anything. As both a Democrat and a Republican.
After he became president a reporter saw her at a party and asked her if she regretted having divorced him, given that she would be First Lady if she hadn't. Jane Wyman replied, "No, not at all. I'm still making more money than he is." She of course was the star of Falcon Crest. And indeed making more money than he was. And with regard to polls versus ratings, she probably was still more popular. Of all her roles, Angela Channing was probably the closest to the real Jane Wyman. Some referred to her and Nancy as his Dowager Empresses.
