I Think the "Khristian Right" Have Started Their Whisper Campaign About Hillary & Barack.
Edited on Mon Sep-10-07 07:54 PM by David Zephyr
1.) The lady that cuts my hair was out sick and her "replacement" was a fundie who after I'd told her I was a Democrat told me with conviction: "You might want to know that Hillary is lesbian and Obama is really a Muslim." I told her that it was nonsense, but she said that's what she had "heard at church".

2.) One of my customers in the mid-west got off on a tangent about America "going to hell" and I casually suggested to him that perhaps our current president might have something to do with it. He responded that he was a "Christian" and that he'd heard that it will "soon come out that Hillary is a lesbian" and that Obama is "really a Muslim".

Now that makes for two instances within the last ten days where I have heard this very same thing. How likely is that?

These stories about Hillary have been tabloid headlines for years. That's not "new". Fox News ran with a whole day of "coverage" that Obama had been trained by radical Muslims. That's not "new".

What's new is that I've heard it back to back from fundie church attenders all in a short period of time.

So my question is: Is anyone else hearing this or is this just a really big coincidence?

6. Of course, I know they are "old" stories, but the coincidence of the new replay is curious.
I think that Hillary and Obama need to address this head on.

And yes, we will be hearing those memes throughout the general campaign.

4. Though I haven't,
it is really no surprise. I do not think it is a coincidence.

If anyone did say that to me, I would assure them that I had heard Obama is a lesbian, and Clinton is a Muslim.

16. But fundies probably wouldn't like the church's mission at all...
Trinity United Church of Christ has been called by God to be a congregation that is not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ and that does not apologize for its African roots! As a congregation of baptized believers, we are called to be agents of liberation not only for the oppressed, but for all of God’s family. We, as a church family, acknowledge, that we will, building on this affirmation of "who we are" and "whose we are," call men, women, boys and girls to the liberating love of Jesus Christ, inviting them to become a part of the church universal, responding to Jesus’ command that we go into all the world and make disciples!

We are called out to be "a chosen people" that pays no attention to socio-economic or educational backgrounds. We are made up of the highly educated and the uneducated. Our congregation is a combination of the haves and the have-nots; the economically disadvantaged, the under-class, the unemployed and the employable.

The fortunate who are among us combine forces with the less fortunate to become agents of change for God who is not pleased with America’s economic mal-distribution!

W.E.B. DuBois indicated that the problem in the 20th century was going to be the problem of the color line. He was absolutely correct. Our job as servants of God is to address that problem and eradicate it in the name of Him who came for the whole world by calling all men, women, boys and girls to Christ.

Pretty threatening! :scared:

...I argued with him at the time, but did not have a way to back it up. Nevermind it, tho, b/c people who will draw conclusions like that are never going to appeaciate someone like Obama anyway.

14. I attende my wife's right-wing fundy church. They actually have very, VERY few whackos.
I haven't heard a thing about Hillary or Obama. They're basically staying away from the topic of politics altogether. Guess B*sh is a real disappointment to them. A number of members are openly against the war. They're fundies, but they're mostly decent people.

23. That would mean, then, that it is a fundy church, not a RW fundy church.
The first is a religious organization. The second is a political organization masked as religion.

28. sounds like common drivel among the flock...
You might start asking them "what are you so scarred of, that everyone might treated EQUALLY?" saying that, is equivalent to throwing them in front of a bus.

It is what they fear, that everyone will be given equal shakes no matter what their faith is if any at all. Those types of people, Fundie Zealots, think they are above everyone else, some how given privilege to decide how everyone else should live their lives.

'lesbians' & 'Muslims' oh my!! Is that all they got? A lesbian or a muslim(which Obama is not) are a hell of a lot better then a mormon polygamist or some clown who thinks the world was created in 6 fucking days.
