2. Sincere question:
What's with the goofy outfits and crowns? I looked up Code Pink and scanned their "who we are" info, and I can understand wearing pink as a statement of womens' unity. But the rest of it -- and their behavior. I'm assuming I'm in agreement with their views, but I couldn't help cringing as I watched.

Good premise, poor execution. They could advance the cause in a much better way.

edit to add: Not even half the fool Skelton looked all day long. What an embarrassment to the Democratic Party.

15. They can't help it. They're Congressmen.
They are fools.

9. I suppose they figured people would take them more seriously if they were dressed
like wierdos.

13. Yay! Rethug judgmentalism on DU.
What have you done to stop the war lately?

It's spelled weirdos, by the way.

18. No, they were dressed like 'wierdos.'
Weirdos isn't a strong enough word for these people.

5. Remember Chicago '68. The disruptors were actually worms, working to
defeat the Dems, and it worked all too well.

8. I have sat with these people in meetings. They are not infiltrators.
They are dedicated activists who have made a commitment. I don't always agree with their tactics but I always stand with them. I wish we had a 100X this many concerned and active people to push the envelope.

fwiw

10. Yes, even as I was judging and giving my opinion on their approach, I was
thinking "at least they're OUT there DOING something" which is much more than I can say for myself. But I can't help it -- I feel (here comes my opinion again) they could push the envelope in a way that would invite people to listen to their stance, rather than wondering why grown women would appear in costume-like ensembles. I think it takes away from the message.

16. I agree,
they (code pink) have to use what is available to get noticed. Unfortunately asking for coverage from the MSM gets them nothing, being loud and a little disruptive gets them a spotlight. More power to them!

19. Protest Is Part Of The American Tradition
I respect their right to protest and the right of Congress to hold orderly hearings...The two aren't mutually exclusive...

14. The important qestion is "Are the ones doing the costume stunts having an opposite
effect?" Do they make the average American think the opposition to the war is a bunch of weird looneys?

It only takes a few to paint that picture is the problem.

12. "This is intolerable"? Protest is intolerable?!
The bullshit Petraeus was spewing is intolerable! Congress's impotence to act on the will of the people and end the war is intolerable!

Ike Skelton's and the Democratic Party's irrelevance is intolerable!
