My latest elevator speech for Republicans
Ron Paul is the only Republican presidential candidate who could possibly win. All the others have "stay the course" stamped on their foreheads. But, so far, the GOP establishment has shunned Paul.

Meanwhile, does ANYONE know what the domestic agenda of any of the Republican candidates consists of? Yes, we know that they oppose national health insurance and want to fight whatever they think the "gay agenda" is. But what are they for?

All we Democrats have to do is nominate a solid, anti-occupation candidate who also has a good domestic message and we're in.

------------

Like all elevator speeches, this is overly simplistic. But it gets across the main point that the GOP is being foolish when ut cements itself to "stay the course" as the centerpiece of its foreign policy agenda, while presenting no coherent domestic agenda.

Hit http://www.speakout.com/VoteMatch/senate2006.asp?quiz=2008#sec0">this link, provided here at DU by mvd on May 10. Kudos to mvd BTW, it's an excellent resource.

The website is designed to help you learn which candidate agrees with you the most. But it can also be used to find out where each of them stands. For that you don't even have to fill out the survey. Just click score the quiz at the bottom (you'll be neutral on every issue) and the rest is highly intuitive.

Edit: I'm sure at least some of the Republican candidates are hoping that their support of the Iraq war will turn into an asset if there is a terrorist attack by anyone on US soil before the general election.
