When contacting Dem Reps please include this sentiment
That we elected them to the majority to get us OUT of Iraq.

Yesterday someone posted info about a conference call with peace activist and Representatives Lyn Woolsey and Jim Moran held in August transcript posted recently. I found it very interesting and actually gave me a glimmer of hope that I haven't had in a LONG time - in that at least I know that there are some Dems who are not spineless and are pushing back and trying to end this....one of the points made by both Reps is that many of the Dems don't get the fact that they won the majority in 2006 because WE want out of Iraq and put them in the majority to do that....so when you call or write please be sure to include this in your comments....here are two quotes from the Reps that go to the point:

Woolsey: "But there’s still a lack of understanding that the reason we’re in the majority is that the people of this country wanted us to lead in bringing our troops home."

Moran: "And then, look at the freshman. Look at the freshman. These freshmen think that they walked a tight rope and they barely got elected. The reality is that most of the freshman, and the entire Democratic majority in a general sense, were elected because we were supposed to carry out a referendum on the war, and end this war. And that’s what they need to understand. If they don’t fulfill that mandate from the American people, then they don’t deserve to be representing their constituencies. I don’t know if they got their this month in August or not, but they should have, and you guys are the best ones to articulate that."

Lots of other really good comments by the Reps in this transcript with some insight into Nancy Pelosi... well worth the read.

2. Well ....
actually I think its a good idea to contact both - thank the ones who are on board and encourage the ones who aren't - and let them all know getting us out of Iraq is the main reason, we worked, contributed and voted them into the majority last November....

3. This is amazingly important. I went to the link, and I think this needs to be seen.
The transcript is, as you say, well worth the read.

We need to do what we can to get this "out there," maybe even IMing one of our more prolific and widely read posters, such as auto rank, babylon sister, deepmodem mom or, others and get this read by a lot of people.

4. THANKS!
I really hope a lot of people take a look at this transcript and pass it on. I actually emailed it to a progressive radio talk show host and I'm hoping he will pay attention to it. I think the post it was in yesterday didn't stay around too long - its focus was different than mine - but I do REALLY believe the comments by Woolsey and Moran are tremendously important

I actually just got off the phone with Jim Moran's office (who use to be my Rep) and told them I thought his comments were AMAZING and thanked him profusely and also told them that I still consider him my rep since now I'm stuck with election stealing Tom Feeney of FL....

Another quote from Moran: (to pique interest)

"Thank you for what you’re all doing. I’d like to think that I’d be doing what you’re doing—organizing, protesting, and speaking out. If I were performing your role, I’d hope I had the courage and the intellect that you do. But I sure appreciate the fact that you do, and you make me proud to be an American and serve in this Congress. Unfortunately, when you look at how little we’ve been able to accomplish—and I don’t think it’s the Speaker’s fault, we’ve got too many risk-averse members—when you look at what we allowed to happen with FISA and the fact that we’ve allowed this to continue, the political process is very frustrating. If we didn’t have people such as yourselves, it’d be very easy to give up on it and go to Canada. You are the democratic process and I hope that you will prevail one day, and sooner rather then later."
