Senate talking about passing a condemnation of MoveOn ad
I am enjoying this whining McConnell pissing and moaning about MoveOn. It must have been a good ad if it bothered these war mongers that much.

I'm going to double my next contribution to MoveOn.

2. Good ad for them. They do not have to speak about Iraq. They speak about
the title of the ad instead.

3. As over the top as some call it
No one can deny that "Betray US" is a powerful two-word sound byte that will stick in people's minds.

The pukes know what they are doing, and they know when one of their own weapons is turned against them.

I think Moveon did great job....gutsy...and it got th word out. All of the hooplah about how very very bad they are only catapults the propaganda.

It worked for the swift-boaters, and so it will work for us.

THAT is why the pukes are trying hard to counter it. Because it works....ugly....but it works.

6. Has that ever been done before?
A house of Congress passing a condemnation of an ad put on by an independent group? If they want to go down this route, then we might want to add some amendments to include the following condemnations:

The Willie Horton ad (1988).
The Jesse Helms ad "you needed that job, but they had to give it to a minority" (1990).
Saxby Chambliss's ad putting Max Cleland next to Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden (2002).

9. Don't forget to tack on the Swift Boat campaign!
The most digusting ad campaign in history. I'm glad MoveOn is playing for keeps this time.

War kills innocent people. What could be a better cause?

37. If Joe's an "independent" I'm a Chinese Astronaut!
Karl's money bought the best little "independent" bullhorn money could buy, to project the GOP line of Bushit and bombast toward anybody stupid or blind enough to believe that Joe isn't a 100% turncoat POS! If Joe will kiss Bush in public, who knows what he'd do behind closed doors.(I can just about guess though)

15. I usually can't stand listening to their hateful whining and accusations
I was actually enjoying listening to McConnells hate-speech because I knew that deep down inside he was acknowledging the effectiveness of this ad. He was, in effect, asking for more ads like this - I think he will get what he wants.

34. Republicans HATE it when you accurately predict their behavior.
They hate it with a burning passion and it is OBVIOUS the ad struck a nerve- a huge one.

We need to do MORE of this, not less. We need to plant it in the heads of people who might listen that these people very well may lie about what they're about to say. If we're wrong, and they tell the truth about xyz subject, we can always apologize later.

It is far easier to beg pardon than it is to ask permission. I think we should start criticizing first, then listen to what they have to say, and rebut. Again, we can always apologize if we're wrong about them.

Frame their asses as liars every single time until they prove otherwise.

17. Say Good, Say Bad, Just Say
Kudos to MoveOn!!! The "outrage" by the Mighty Wurlitzer has drawn a lot of people's attention to the ad...and, to their consternation...people read it and agree with it.

When I heard the first whining yesterday, I went to MoveOn and kicked them a donation...and I'm ready to go again if this is creating such a "fuss".

Yep, this ad hit a nerve that the paid-for Ari Fleisher astroturf group could only dream of. It's gotten people's attention and they're quetioning not only Iraq but are paying close attention to what Petreus is trying to peddle.

So keep up all the "outrage"...it's worked soooo well in recent times in destroying Al Franken and Michael Moore and Daily Kos...

18. McConnell should just ignore it
Unless he wants the swiftboaters, etc. brought up. I do think that MoveOn crossed the line of decency but there is no reason to have any type of Senatorial discussion about it. There are an awful lot of things going on in America and the world that the Senate should consider other than some stupid ad. Incidentally, I got a solicitation email from MoveOn about that ad, and did not contribute. I think that overall they do good work though.

Typical of the GOP.

Hey it is not as if Congress could be doing anything meaningful with that time other than this act of surpressing free speech.
