9/11 Memorial at Ground Zero
I work across the street from ground zero. My office window faces west, where I can see the Hudson River.

At 10:29am this morning (when the North tower fell), all the ferries, police boats and any other vehicle on the water stopped where they were and blew their horns simultaneously.

This really touched me and I wanted to share.

1. Thank you.
I'm over by the Seaport. Very quiet here. My gf works in WTC 7 but she didn't go in today.

2. You Are Welcome . . . . .
I am assuming the boats also stopped on the East River. Did you hear anything?

3. Nothing - and I'm right over the Bklyn Bridge
on 9/11 we evacuated so quickly I was back in my apt. on houston Street and watched the north tower fall from my bedroom window. Does it bother you working around the site everyday? My gf's only been working there for 3 weeks and it's already affecting her.

4. I am Surprised . . . .
that you did not hear anything, being so close to the river.

I took the day off on 9/11/01 - my hubby was due to fly back from Michigan that morning. Of course, he never made it home that day. It took him 3 days to get home by Greyhound bus. It was such a nightmare!

My memory plays tricks on me all the time. I find myself thinking that I have to stop at the Trade Center to pick up something. I get this really strange feeling when I realize that it is not to be. Kinda sad, actually.
