1. Truth doesn't serve their interests.

I said this in another post somewhere. The real reason neo-cons get into politics is for money and power to pursue their depraved interests and appetites, hence all the closet adulterers, gays and pedophiles. They have to lie to get that money and power from their gullible voting base. They can't be truthful, but that doesn't bother them. All they care about is not getting caught. That's why they are so outraged in condemning guys like Senator Craig when their peccadilloes come out in the open. They don't care about Craig's bathroom habits but that he got caught and it makes them look bad and it could threaten them by putting their private lives under scrutiny.
