Bush fan feedback re: the recent Brain Study on Liberals and Cons
This one particular Bush fan brought up Hugh Hewitt as a counter to David Amodio, PhD, Psychology at NYU/UCLA who was the lead author of the study that found that people who identify themselves as liberals tend to take real-world experiences into account when forming or altering options.

I asked him how Hugh Hewitt had anything to do with the conversation re: the study (he already dismissed NYU and UCLA as inherently biased because of their geographic location :eyes:)

His response?

He is no more biased than most of what comes out of New York, UCLA, and major universities and yet you expect me to believe anything that comes out either of those places.

:wow:

That's what we're up against in this country, folks.

A complete and utter lack of the ability to use logic and think for one's self.

sad.

1. So bias is a result of "geographic location?"
Klan rallys in the south? I guess that fucking dumbass argument can work both ways. Mississippi, number one in obesity, poverty and diabetes. Klan rallys in Mississippi. I guess one might have a point tossing about geography as a basis for stuff.

2. Two points I'd like to mention
1) My brother had an argument with a Freeper/Neocon type and listed out a lot of details to bolster his side of the conversation. The other guy's retort was, "You're just trying to confuse me with facts!"

2) An ex-girlfriend of mine who was a Bush supporter's reaction to my attempt to introduce her to certain alternative news sites and books was to accuse me of trying to make her feel stupid.

Ugh

3. Being liars doesn't help them understand research
I mean, I really did not understand the research process until after I graduated with my M.A. It follows a rigid format unlike free flow of thought that people hear on talk radio.

But the other point I wanted to make is that, I think one of the biggest differences between us and Cons is that they simply are liars. I think that their 'evil' behavior stems from being liars, and never having parents teach them that lying is wrong. I think that lying is what creates bad behavior in the long run, not the other way around. That's just my opinion -- I can admit that it is not a fact until the hypothesis is proven.

4. I think in this case it's more along the lines of how I used to be
I was once a Republican (until late 2003). It's more a matter of personal pride taking over and one refusing to take a huge hit to the 'self' that would cause the 'self' to be forced to redefine itself and seek out all new influences and discard lifelong thought processes.

5. I was too young to analyze it when it happened
I was a Republican up until about age 11 or so when I broke away from the thought patterns of my Republican parents.

I agree that sometimes accepting certain facts of life can sometime feel difficult at first, and then later accepting those facts become part of what makes someone an adult.
